This is the BMW Owner Circle as you all know... 3 days behind the actual status of the car. Thought'd I share the moment and hope it goes on to many of you.

Went something like this:

August 6th: My car gets rear-ended hard by Ford Escape.

August 11th: My car gets officiall called "total-loss", "written-off"
Later that same Friday: Visit to OpenRoad BMW

The 328i/335i were not available to be seen, but could be ordered. You could only look at the brochure.

Placed order for 335i (specs in signiture)

August 15th: Recieved production #, was told that I could sign into owner's circle to track the progress.

August 16th: Found that Owner's circle showed this:
!!!!-> My order was WRONG!
!!!!-> Showed a Jet Black 335i w/ Active Steering and Rear Sun SHADE! OMG NOOOOOOOOOO

!!!!-> Called Andrew (manager) at OpenRoad BMW.
[calm] -> Andrew comfirmed that I had the correct production # and the order hadn't refreshed on Owner's circle.
[error] -> My order specified burl nut wood, I NEVER SAID BURL NUTS! I wanted grey popular. Andrew FIXED it.
[Addition to my order] -> Andrew convinced me to get Active Steering.

August 19th -> My order showed up correct on owner's circle.
[ Discovery ] -> the 335i comes with real-time traffic nav. OMG awsome. (like a little girl )

September 9th -> Mets vs LA Dodgers. Called dealer, they had a 335i in for me to Test Drive.
[ TEST DRIVE ] -> OMG THE PADDLE SHIFTERS ROCK. You can shift at any time you wish and this car goes to 90mph without telling you. I was going around everything on Route (1) in NJ. My sales person said: "You are going 90!" -> I said, "o shit. I was in the zone. "

[ DONE ] -> Discussed accessories with accessories manager.
-> He tells me I need Tire Insurance!!!!
-> I tell him FINE.
-> What about the spoiler? Alarm? Aero kit? and cross-composite wheels?
-> He tells me when the car gets in, we'll discuss all that. They had no information on it.

September 11th-> 335i loaded on vessel according to shipping company's website.

September 24th-> 335i Arrives to the NJ port.
September 27th-> I get my insurance done ( about ~$1000 / 6 months )

-----UPDATE----------
Paid $5000 for 4 items, not sure why.
1) Tire Insurance
2) LOJACK with early warning
3) BMW extended warranty 6/100000
4) BMW extended maintenance 6/100000

September 29th-> [ TOMORROW ] I pick up my new machine at 12 noon.

Is this something that's only available in the States ? I just ordered a 335i on UK launch day, and I've been told probable delivery in week of 23rd October, but nobody mention and on-line tracking facility.

Yes. It has the Z3 in it. It gets worse: they have a 80's midi playing as the music will you have the flash page loaded.

XEIO I thought the real-time traffic nav was only available on the sedan nav. Is this something that will come on the nav for the 335i coupe as well?? Where did you see this?

Mine still says "En Route" but was on the patriot as well. I should have mine by monday or tuesday of next week.

It comes on all BMW NAVs as off 2007. For verification on my coupe, it says so on my order sheet. Real-Time Traffic ... N/C

Just got a call from my dealer.

I pick it up tomorrrow, Friday 9/29/06 @ 12:00 Noon.

I'll be driving all over NJ and NYC tomorrow for kicks and giggles.
At the end of the day, about 5:40 I'll be "En Route" for Lake George NJ for a weekend getaway with my girl. : )

It'll be sleepless, I guarrentee it.

I called bmwusa, they can't provide any of that information regarding cargo, what boat, things like that, how do you guys know what boat your car is on?

Go to TRACKING CARGO, THEN CHOOSE AUTO[mobile] ID, ENTER your vin# you got from BMW's owner's circle.

That website provides you the information. You need to provide your VIN # from BMW's owner's circle.

Police have no access to BMW's assist technology. If you're serious about saving your car, get LOJACK, BMW's standard issued stuff is unlikely to get your car back in time.

Arrived in NY today & on it's way to Prep Center.
Finally will have my Montego Blue Sedan on Monday or Tuesday?
