Detailing for people living in condos

How would you detail your car if you are living in a condo ? I found a self-serve place where I can wash my car but how would I go about detailing the car, i.e. if I'd like to use the porter cable ? Anyone here living in a condo and doing detailing work ?

Your condo doesn't have a garage?

Not a ton of condos have garages here in Chicago area. I go to a touchless place that has never left a single scratch on my car. Then I will drive 8 miles to my mothers to use her garage. Ill use some Detail spray to get the dust off obviously before I wax or do anything. Just use a friends place, usually your best bet

This is exactly the reason why I hate condo's/apartments. Hard as hell to wash your car and you have to find one with a garage.

Keeping my $50K car out in the open......I couldn't handle it.

The best situation for you as others have said, Use a friends place/ your moms or whatever.

Or move...

I do have an underground garage but I'm not allowed to wash my car there and can't possibly detail as well.

As long as you have an outlet for the porter cable in the underground garage I don't see why they wouldn't want you to detail down there. You could wash somewhere else and bring it back to detail assuming there is enough light. Maybe ask the complex about detailing, it's not like you'd be making a mess or anything.

That's what I'll have to check if there is any way to connect the porter cable.

you always could purchase yourself a portable Honda generator......one of those quite ones that you go camping with....put it in a remote corner and your good to go.....thats if u have no AC outlet in the underground parking...

Just a thought!

i live in a condo and detail right out of my condo... well it's a townhouse but i still have to park in the main building garage, but i'm lucky that my townhouse has a direct entrance from the garage... so i connect a hose to my washing machine (for clothes) and take it out the door and wash away... ill take some pictures of my setup so you can see what im talking about.

ScheerSpeed,
I would love to see how you set that up?

Even washing it with ONR, and got Electric there, how do you guys wash the wheels. Since it really requires water to do that!

^^^You can probably use ONR on the wheels with a dedicated wheel sponge. If they are really dirty, you can spray on some P21S wheel cleaner or something and then ONR them.

After I switched to Akenbono brake pads cleaning the wheel is not a problem anymore. There is no heavy brake dust build up anymore. So when I do want to clean the wheels. Spray some P21S on the wheels while cleaning the car. When I done with the ONR bucket of water. I take a clean rag and use the water in there to clean off the wheels.

I use ONR on my wheels all the time when doing ONR washes. Works great with a grout sponge. For the colder months, I keep a spray bottle mixed with 2 caps of ONR and a small 2-gal bucket for rinsing out the sponge just for the wheels.

You'll probably have to get it online. Can't speak for CA, but I haven't heard of any local place that carries it (or any other high end products).

this is a big problem for me too. our local touchless car bays washes are open 24/7, so i go usually late at night where i can do a decent bucket wash. otherwise i drive to my folk's house for detailing with a porter cable. not an ideal situation, but better than nothing. i wouldnt think it'd be ok to run a pc AND a generator inside an underground garage. can you imagine how loud it'd get???

Some of those Honda generators are whisper quiet, they claim you can sleep next to them when your camping......

You might even try a 12v -110v power inverter that plugs into your cigarette lighter, I know that they are available in different output levels (watts)
