Which do I have?

I'm getting a 2006 325i w/sport pkg next week. It has the Bridgestone RFT's on it. How do I tell if it's a summer or winter tire? What's the issue if I don't change over from summer to winter and vice-versa? Traction on ice/snow is iffy anyway on a 2-wheel drive auto. I live in Southern NJ so we don't get much snow. If we do I'll drive the 4-wheel drive Explorer instead. I've never had to deal with the summer/winter issue before so pardon me if the answer is "obvious" to some people. And for the moment I'm going to keep the RFT's.
Thanks...

The sidewall of the tire will indicate if it is an all season tire. Alternatively, you can post the model number of the tire (like RE50A - also on the sidewall) and we'll tell you.

What will happen if you have summer only tires? They will become undriveable when the temps (including ground temps) drop into the 40's and you will possibly slide into a car/wall/guardrail at the first snow/ice rain event.

Thank you. I'll take a look after I pick up the car. I kind of got the impression from reading the various posts here that RFT's were winter OR summer... From your statement they can ALSO be all-weather? What code should be on those?

Since you are buying a 2006 model, it is probably a safe bet thatthe tires have been changed in the past, so we can't tell you what tires are on the car - how could we know. Bridgestone makes summer, winter and all-season tires, but only summer or all-season tires would come with the car from the factory.
