JB+ - Dyno Comparison - Kinda Disappointed

So I got my car dyno'd again today ... since my stock dyno I have added the following mods:

STETT CAI
Forge BOV
JB+ (100%)

The dyno's were done at the same place, and my buddy and I strapped the car down the same way ... temp was fairly close .. humidity was higher today, but nothing to crazy different

So on http://www.burgertuning.com/jbplus.html they list a stock car with the JB+ set at 100% having ~340HP ~360TQ ... We did 3 pulls and they were almost identical (+/- 1 HP/TQ) so it was consistent .. 4th gear pulls .. 93 Octane .. Results were 317 HP 345 TQ ... this is quite a bit lower than what he has posted up ...

Now I understand tuners are going to post up their best graph possible to sell more product, but still ... this is a pretty big difference ... anyone (Terry/Mike) have any help, suggestions, thoughts ... anything ?

You still got an extra +40 whp and +40 torque from the JB+ gizmotchi.
Is that different then what the JB+ ad says it should be?

I picked up 40HP 60TQ over stock ... the graphs they have posted show are about 20HP/TQ more ... so I would think that with an intake I would at least be even, if not a touch higher

Results look good. Use STD correction for higher numbers, and try the solenoid bypass. There is always a lot of car to car and dyno to dyno variance.

If that's about average then I'm ok with it ... I didn't notice the Burger Tuning graph was at standard ... I thought most people used SAE instead ...

Switched to STD and I get 326HP - 354TQ ... this is more inline with what is advertised so I can't complain then ... I still thought I would be higher than what is posted those since I have the intake, but it's all good

IMO track times are better than dyno comparo's. Go to the track and see what she does. Don't get caught up in the numbers. For me, I ran a half second quicker 1/4 time with JB+. They say the proof is in the pudding. The dyno is not the pudding but only points to what you might see in the pudding.

Also was this 93 octane? Octane also makes a big difference in the N54 on higher boost. If you want another 10-20 hp then put some ms109 in the tank.

In addition, I would guess you would see the gains of the intake more at the track than at the dyno since you have more air (and colder air) to pull from at speed.

I plan on going to the track tune only and then adding a CAI and doing more runs and see what I come up with.

Yes it was 93

I did run it at the track ... after 6 runs of running SLOWER than stock I finally took 1 tenth off and trapped 1MPH faster ...

13.5 @ 103 which is wayyyyyy slower than I should be running ... I went 13.6 @ 102 stock at Orlando Speed World ... the times yesterday were run at Bradenton ... I'm convinced that track is garbage though because I ran slower there then at OSW with my e46 too

Going to have to try OSW again and see if it's any better

At 100% the bypass will also add some power. Worth doing if you haven't already.

Yar ... I know I should be in the low 13s at the very very least ... most likely the high 12s like everyone else ... just need a good track and I'll give it a shot again

if your Stett is the same one I am thinking of then on the dyno it is not going to show much power gains on the dyno putting that filter where it does. I had the same issue with a CAI in fender in my last car it dyno'd almost 25hp less than a regular open air element under the hood. That type of intake is not going to get enough air on the dyno at all. and to be honest I have never liked those types of intakes on any car. That may be the reason for the HP diff. Try it again with the stock box or a DCI and see what happens. All in all you power gains are very good for a $280 mod so not much to complain about there.

yes but dynos are never proof. the one I had showed a 22hp gain but on my car was loosing over 20hp to a standard 9" open filter under the hood. It depends on how the air was being introduced to the filter on the dyno.

Very valid point ... I'm not a huge fan of the DCI, but to each their own

I'm not exactly upset with my numbers ... I was just hoping for more ... but then again ... don't we all

There was some FAT testing done showing the STETT to accelerate faster than the DCI. And it didn't seem to pull timing which indicates that the engine was getting enough air from the STETT intake. From this, one could deduce that if the air element is pulling enough air that colder air would increase performance.

How did you come up with dyno number of 22 hp increase then switching to 9" open element and gaining an additional 20hp. Or am I reading that wrong?

I dynoed with JB+ at 100% w/ solenoid bypass, DCI, and axle-back exhaust, 93 octane, dynojet STD correction, and made less than you did.... 322rwhp 353wtq.
