New source for cheap $199 downpipes!

Surfing 1addicts I found a new source for cheap downpipes that was posted, on eBay of all places. They look to be 2.5" and similar quality to other 2.5" downpipes out there. They suggest polishing them regularly if you want them to look nice but since you can't see them in our cars I doubt it would be worth the effort.

They are $199 shipped here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Racel...item1c0e15dd97

Damn, $198 is awfully cheap.
Someone should pick up a set and try them out.
A pipe is a pipe. . . Might be worth the $198
They also offer a 14 day money back guarantee

There's going to be several fanboys that are diehards for AR or UR or RR or VK or MS that are going to talk trash and call these junk. . . Which they might be. But nobody will know until someone tries them. For the price. . . a pipe is a pipe.

You'll pay $200 for these downpipes... $250+ to install them.... 13 days later $250 to remove them to send them back because of cracked welds or very bad fitment... you order a set of AR Design Dp's and another $250+ to install them again... After all that money to install/remove Dp's it's just smarter and cheaper to buy a good set of AR Dp's and pay for a 1 time install.

I install DP's all the time and would love to have return customers to install, remove and install again.... but i don't like to see my fellow BMW enthusiasts wasting money

do we need to show the comparison pics of the welds yet again?
I haven't seen these yet in person, but with all the different DP's i have seen, i can bet money the welds and craftsmanship of these DP's is not up to par with AR.

They look good as long as they fit and are SS they will be fine. I would order these in a heartbeat if I already didn't have downpipes. People bash ebay headers but I had them on my last 3 series and they were awesome no problems for the 4 years I had them.

I wasn't looking for an argument either I just saw we both posted and here came the fanboy term... and in my initial post i didn't mention AR Design but i've heard of quite a number of the Evo guys as well as a few BMW guys who tried that $399 ebay intercooler only to find out it was garbage so imo you spend the money once on a quality product!!

In life, you most often get what you pay for.

If you've got a limited budget and don't mind rolling the dice on weld quality and fitment, this deal is for you.

If you prefer to preserve OE quality on your fairly decent car, then focus on products that come with a track record and a reputation that fits your expectation.

In my opinion, only the rich can afford to buy cheap stuff.

sometimes you get what you pay for and other times you pay for a name... you never know... a pipe is a pipe... cost of manufacturing for ar way the hell under 700 for a set of downpipes... the ebay ones might just be running a smaller profit margin

please try these and let us know!!

I LOL'd. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. My costs are above both the sale price of the eBay downpipes and the VK. And there is a reason for it. At some point I am really hoping people are going to get over this ridiculous "BMW Tax" myth. Feel free to stop by the shop if you're local - I'll show you our downpipes, the competitions, and how we do things very, very differently here. We've already posted plenty of pictures, no need to re-make my point for the 1,000th time. If you want to buy a set, I certainly am not going to stop you. If anyone believes they are buying the exact same thing, its no skin off my back

Looks like someones product got backdoored for sure, though.

AR's dp's do look like a quality product though. And that has been backed by a lot of reviews.

However...

...selling midpipes for more than $300.

I would love to run a business at those profit margins.

I take it your review on VK dps are negative to say the least.
