Window tint dilemma. 35 or 50% on jetblack?
Hi, I'm new to this forum and I found here is great specially the nice photos in most of the thread.
Ok back to the topic, our E90 will be arrived in 2 months time. It is 320i Jet black with lemon leather. Now I have a dilemma on choosing the right tint. I know a tint guy which his workmanship is really good and he uses Lumma tint (hope it's good one). Now 50% or 35%? - 50% : It looks classy but I worry that it might not dark even to stop the heat and glare. - 35%: It is darker and looks cool with black car but I just don't like the look when you look at the car from front 45degree. The front window is not matching the windscreen. Any suggestion? Also last question does the E90 door trim needs to be taken off for window tint? I hope the BMW door trim will not rattle after the removal. |

A good ceramic film will will block the majority of heat and UV rays even with a lighter color tint like 50%. I have Hüper Optik 50% and this summer it was great at blocking heat. If I had it to do over, I would have gotten HU 40 as the 50 tint is very light, pretty hard to notice. I don't think it looks bad when the front window is darker than the windscreen, but that's a personal preference. Lastly, I don't believe that the door trim needs to be removed, so no worries there.

I went with a non metallic tint and got 17% in the back window and 34% all around. It looks really nice and I am happy with my decision. 50% seems to be too light imo.

It's funny, I have 50% on my Monaco blue, and it only looks dark when you view it at a pretty extreme angle, just like the ones that guy used in those pictures. When you view it straight on from 90 degrees, it is a very, very light tint.

Sorry to thread-jack, but does anyone here have photos of a bronze tint? I've seen samples at my local Ziebart but never on a car.

uhhh 50% is light... haha i have 30% all around... i would suggest 5-20% in rear windshield, 20-30% on quarters + rear windows, 50-20% on front's.

Thanks guys. I don't think ceramic tint is available over here. It sounds like I should get 35% tint all around. Anyone has pic of 35% tint with lemon leather?
