Which vacuum cleaner?

Hi guys,

I need to buy a vacuum cleaner that works for the car but also for home. Would need to be a canister I guess. Even though I say for "home", this only means light use in rugs.

Dysons are great but are too much for what I plan to spend.

Thanks.

I picked up a wet/dry vac from Harbor Freight for $30. This is a 3HP/5 gallon with all of the connectors needed. It also has the function to be used as a blower.

Hard to beat HB!

Maybe not quite what you're looking for .......

I use a Craftsman Shop Vac, believe it's a 5HP/9-gal. Awesome unit for the cars, garage, and basement, lots of attachments. I don't use it around the living areas of the house, but don't see why you couldn't.

Man, this thread speaks my language. I started cleaning offices for my family's large commercial cleaning outfit when I was a kid and never gave it up entirely. I've probably burned through 100 different kinds of vacuums in all of my years, from VERY high end, to cheap throw aways.

The best one hands down for the money, if you only want one for all uses, is the Sears Progressive canister which Consumer reports also rates really high. It'll do your house and car and doesn't take up too much room. If I was to have only 1 vacuum, this would be the one.
