Juice box 3

Hi im new to this site and i trying to find an answer to my problem. I just recently got a 335 e92, and after i had it for about a month i decided to chip it and add new intakes. And so i did, at first my car was running great until one day that i was coming home from my friends my car started to stall and i was freaked out. I didnt know what to do so i just turned it off and turned it back on. When i did this it was back to normal, so i thought that it went into limp mode, or however you call it. But i was curious of the fact that i wasnt running my car and it decided to go into that. So i kept driving and all of a sudden my service engine light turned on, however my car never entered that mode for a while. Until i raced my friend testing out how much power i really had gained, and BAM! the same thing happened, so i went to the dealership and they told me that it was because my car did not come with an oil cooler that my car over heated, well they said that would not be a problem, the problem was that my car had a broken boost sensor. So they replaced it (didnt pay anything) and it was fine again. until last week the same thing occurred again and im trying to get down to the problem because what would be the point in having all that money put in and not being able to use it. if anyone can help me out that would be great thanks.

Do you have any idea what version JB3 you have? 1.1,1.2,1.3 or 1.4?

how long ago did you buy it? plug and play?

You will have to get a bt cable from someone, to borrow or buy and sca your car to see what codes you are throwing to better help you out.

Best bet would be to remove the mods and bring it back to the dealer.

sorry to hear that, you should post this in the Turbo/FI section...

It's going to be hard for anyone to tell you exactly what happened unless you have the error codes pulled with a BT Scan or something. I sure hope you didn't take your car to the dealer with the JB3 in. Thats risky as hell.

Try posting in that section it will get more of a response there.

a Juicebox is the name of a tune or chip sold by Burger motor sports... it basically increases the amount of boost on the 135,335 and i think now the 535

you may also see procede, giac these are all tunes or flashes

Can you take the tune out and bring it into the dealer and have them run the codes that the computer threw?

well the thing is that my service person at the dealer, i get along well with him cause we both graduated from the same school. But what he told me was that he has the same problem with his car and when he fixed it his room mate crashed it so he never really got to see if it was the same problem (boost sensor) or was it going to be a different problem. He also recommend me to get an oil cooler but my budget doesnt go up to 5k right now. especially now that i want to get full exhaust and exterior modes im really not looking forward into spending it on that. But if i had to i will, do you guys think i should take it back to the shop where i got the chip installed and tell him to see whats the deal? Thanks so far though.

you can take the tune out and do this. but there are 2-3 codes that tell the dealer there was a tune on the car. and they will flag you and most likely deny any warranty work to ur engine. you need to check the codes with a BT tool and see what they are and decide whether to take the tune out and take to dealer or just clear codes ect..

yeh.. i ran that tune for a while i switched to a procede for many reasons i wont get into lol.

idk you say your buddies with the service guy so get a list of the codes from him and post them in the Turbo section and see what people suggest. theres several well known issues with these cars some are tune related others are not such as hpfp, vanos issues. you and everyone on the forum are not going to be able to give you more insight without knowing what those codes were that your car threw.

you should def invest in the oil cooler im pretty sure if u pressed ur dealer they would install it under warranty for you. specially if he's your friend

Get the oil cooler. Especially if you are planning more power mods.

thanks, well the deal with the oil cooler is that since my car was one of the first produced it came with out it, and i sent him a text message asking him about a deal on getting one installed. However Bmw no longer makes the oil cooler that were placed in the newer 335i and now they came up with a new oil cooler and he told me that if he somehow got a hand on a oil cooler from a car that was totaled he would let me know, but the problem would be that the stock oil cooler would in reality do nothing to me if i was to go on further with tuning my car. eventually i would have to get a better oil cooler. but yeah im taking my car in to get my taillights fixed and ill ask him to find out the codes that my engine has. Thanks for everything guys

Normally if everything is running fine, and then suddenly a problem crops up, it is something fuelling related and nothing to do with tuning. Although, it could be a G1 vs G2 board problem if its an older JB3 box. I would suggest you get in contact with BMS and take advantage of their free support. That is really the fastest way to get it running the way it should be.

I would definitely think about getting a Bavarian Technic Scan tool, if you have a budget for mods (exhaust, exterior) I would dig in to that and buy a BT scan tool.

It is a MUST HAVE when tuning with these cars, IMO. You can order it at the Burger Motorsports website. Also, shoot over to n54tech.com with any JB3 related questions. Terry is very helpful.

It is very possible this problem is not related to the tune at all, the BT tool will tell all.
