Angry 4 tires blown up in less than a year

Hi All,

I have a 2008 BMW 335i that I purchased around a year and a half ago from BMW used cars. The car had only 4k Km on it, so it was practically brand new.

A few months after purchasing the car, my rear 19" tire (225/35) was shredded to pieces while driving to another city. Since there are run flat tires, I didn’t have a spare, and was forced to tow the car to the nearest bmw to get it replaced. the tire costed me 500 USD to change! When asked why this happened, they mentioned that the pressure was low (computer never indicated).
A few months later, the same happened to the second rear tire and I also replaced!

Here is where it gets better, last Thursday, I am driving and the same tire that was replaced got ripped to pieces!!! when i took it to the dealership, they stated one of the front tires is ripped as well.

The first excuse was the alignment of the tires...then they go back and tell me they dont really know why this is the cause....that the tires are not BMWs problem, its is the tire manufacturers problem and that I have to change all 4 of them!!! A total cost of 2,000 USD!

I have refused to pay for the tires. "i dont know why this is happening" is unacceptable! I expect the dealership to troubleshoot my problem and make sure such things do not occur again.

Would appreciate your comments and feedback.

Thanks
Sam

P.S. My car has 38k kilometers on it and I drive my car responsibly.

Then you should spend your time contacting the tire maker. BMW verified that it's NOT a problem with the car so you need to talk to Continental or Michelin and check your tire pressure more often. The ONLY time I've seen tires "shredded" was after they spent a significant amount of time riding on their sidewalls.

1) If the pressure is low the bmw computer would indicate.
2) the car is serviced every 3-4 months -- BMW should do a full check up on th car.

No more 19s!

I lost two tires and had a cracked rim with my Dinan tuned 335i in September. I had 175,000 kilometers on the car so I bought an M3 and went back to 18s.

Which Brand of tyre was on your car if you don't mind me asking. I rejected my new M3 with Conti crap3's on as I specified PS2's with my dealer at order time and had it verified 4 weeks before taking delivery, it still came with the wrong treads, Now they have changed them for PS2's.

Seems like Conti has some issue with sidewall seperation.

Here is the link I found.

Might want to check for small cracks in the rims? Did you buy the car used? Could be that the person before you messed up the rims and just had them "fixed". Good luck man.
