Pirelli P-Zero Nero M&S

Hi all. I got a 6 inch bolt lodged in my pass. side rear tire this weekend, and my local dealership (Bavarian BMW) is charging me $457 dollars (w/ installation). That's a complete joke. I ordered a new set of Pirellis, the same tires I put on my 03' 330i ZHP, from the Tire Rack, and paid $647 TOTAL. These are the best tires I've ever had, and they retain astounding grip up here in the middle of sub-zero temperatures, along w/ an amazingly comfortable ride. There are only maybe one or two actual snow days up here worth mentioning, and the Pirellis even did an admirable job in light snow, w/ 18's!!! They also were so much quieter than my old Bridgestones, and were fantastic in the middle of summer. These could possibly be the best all-season tires I'll ever use in my lifetime. I'll let you all know Friday when I get my car back how they're working on the e90, and if I notice any initial changes from my runflats.(I have a 330i 6-spd w/ the sport pkg.) And for any of you wondering, I'd rather use one set of tires year round, than changing them in and out a couple of times a year (I'm lazy that way!!!).

Good to know, I have a set that I'll probably mount soon on my ZHP.

Those are definitely the best tires out there. M+S for all seasons -- excellent. Had them on my accord -- 100% difference. My buddy had them on e90 -- loved them.
Definitely worth switching.

I had them on my car and 'sold' them to Shim... They really are great tires...

I agree on everything. Astounding grip even in snowy conditions...

My only complaint was a lack of rim protection on the sidewall of the tire... If it had that, I would be all about them...

I don't understand what you mean about rim protection? Can you elaborate. Did you have a mobility kit when you ran on these or a spare?

I did have a mobility kit... never had to use it though...

Rim protection is a feature on some (but not all) tires. It is basically a lip on the sidewall that is closest to the rim itself. It sticks out so that if you happen to run into the curb or some other object, the tire will take the brunt of the contact, and not the rim.

The OEM bridgestone RF's have a large lip on them. Not only does it look much better, but it also serves a function...

The Pirelli tires were amazing tires, but the sidewall was flush with the rim. If those tires had the sidewall protection, I would still have them on my car...

"so thats what that lip is for"... . Thanks.

So I guess one could get curb rash a lot more easier if the rim protection lip is not on the tire. Hmmm, I might have to cross them off my list now. Back to the drawing board.
