I was supposed to pick up my E92 tomorrow morning but I've ran into some issues with winter tires.

Combined with the holidays and the lack of stock that people are keeping I'm kinda stuck in a corner here, so here's my question.

Do i go with an amazing deal of $1100 for wheels and tires mounted ready to go or with the wheels and tires BMW is offering me at $2500

Here's the catch, the wheels at $1100 are M5 replicas in chrome! their is truly nothing I hate more than chrome, but its a huge price difference. I'd like to see what they look like on an Alpine white but There's no pic that I could find.

Suggestions? Advice? anything?

+1 If you really end up hating the chrome that much, I'm sure you can do something to cover the chrome for a lot less than $1400 (how much does a can of spray paint cost? )

You could also just live with the chrome this winter, and get a cheap rim from Tirerack next year. You could probably do something in the $600-800 range even with remounting the tires.

There must be other alternatives. You will hate yourself with chrome wheels. Winter is too long in Montreal to live with that.
Surely TireRack can express delivery something better in a week. Or do what I do: just mount winter tires on your stock OEM rims. If you hate the mount/unmount routine, put the winters on your OEM rims, sell the new rfts to your dealer, and then in the spring get some lightweight forged rims with high quality non-rfts.

Take the chrome ones, have um painted/powdercoated gunmetal, black or whatever you want for a few hundred bucks. Or do what I did and save more money by painting um yourself with Duplicolor Wheel Paint, its SUPER easy. They come out nice plus they're winters so you can get um chipped/scratched up with no worries and just repaint um again before next winter (with a few good coats of paint and 24/36 hrs of time for the paint to cure, the finish is VERY strong and will last a long time but I'm just sayin just in case they do chip or get scratched. Its not like they're gonna flake off completely within a few months of being sprayed).

imo i dont like chrome either but it is not the worst. they're only for a winter setup and a $1400 price diffrence is a lot of money to use on other things. m5 reps aint half bad, chrome is meh but for a winter set up why not. that leaves you with money left over for anything else and a decent pair of winter rims. as mentioned before you can always paint them or something for a reasonable price and end up with some nice wheels.

Since we don't have that issue in So Cal my advice would simply be save the cash and get the cheap winter ones and paint or powder coat them for a couple of hundred extra. You'll still have @1000 to play with come spring/summer to put into the car or pay for part of a nice vacation in a sunny spot. Why waste the extra bucks on somethingthat will get beat up in winter conditions??

Your only two options are those? I'd call around some more. What about refurb OEM rims? There are a bunch of places that sell those online and can probably ship them. I have some Rial Salernos that I got from tirerack 2 weeks ago with lm25s for like $1100. But there were a bunch of local places that sold them also - including the BMW dealer.

I really like the Rials BTW. They are a nice 5 spoke design and take the BMW center caps.
