Question How to stop pulling the door handle twice.

Happy New Year everyone!!

I was wondering if there is a way to have to door on the E92 to unlock when you turn the ignition off.

Is there a setting in the iDrive that can do this, because I found the setting to lock the car when it gets up to speed.

It's a pain to pull the door handle twice to open it.

Any incite will be welcomed

Thanks!!

If you get EAS' RemoteKey+ system, you could do exactly what you wanted.

However, I'm not sure how much everything costs.

Here's the link:

There are two different versions so if you wanted to get the older one (that still has the feature you're looking for) it will likely be cheaper.

I believe you can set the options in the computer to not lock the car when you start moving. This is in the computer settings on the stalk and steering wheel.

However, if you want to keep them locked (and I would) in city traffic, you either have to pull the door handle twice or push the unlock button on the dash first.

The dealer can reset that for you, as I had them do on my car before I picked it up. I only have to pull the door handle once to open the door just like any non-BMW vehicle; however, the door doesn't auto-lock when the car is in motion either.

Yes, this is what I wrote above. The dealer doesn't have to do it though, 5 minutes in the garage with the manual will get it done for you.

The Remotekey has gone down in price I think. I paid $280 for mine I think... way back...

Just program your car so it doesn't autolock. Otherwise, unlock the doors first before you open the door by pressing the unlock button...

Thanks for all of your suggestions, I think I am going to look for the remotekey if I can find a good price for one.

I like the autolock feature because I do forget to lock the doors sometime, and that would invite someone whom is not so very nice that likes to do bad things to others when the opportunity arises.

Thanks again everyone! you all are cool people. , except for one!

Welcome!! I don't mind at all, it's good to find out where everyone is from.

But to get back to the subject, I always feel that the door is going to brake because of the double pull.

+1 on RemoteKey. One of my favorite mods.

The module (remoteKEY) is/was $280 when I got it, this is not the key fob.

Actually, quite a bit more:

Individually programmable
Configure all functions of the module to meet your personal preferences via our signature blinker setup menu.

Factory BMW Alarm Emulation
Emulate the factory BMW alarm confirmation door locking/locking chirps and blinking LED as a visual deterrent against thieves or vandalism. remoteKEY is even compatible for 3/09+ models not prewired for the factory BMW alarm!

Passive / Invisible mode
Turn the whole module off with an easy key sequence. Ideal when letting someone else drive your car.

Reversible plug-in installation
Remove any time allowing sale or return of a leased vehicle in it's original condition.

Remote window/sunroof control
Open and close the windows and the sunroof separately by remote without activating the top.

Folding Mirrors
On models equipped with motorized mirrors (premium package), fold mirrors in and out by remote. If equipped with Comfort Access -door handles can also activate mirror folding.

Automatic door unlocking
Automatically unlock the doors when turning the ignition off. No more pulling the door handle twice.

USB Port for easy updates
This module can be updated using any Windows PC / Laptop with Internet connection.

Let me know if you guys have any questions on the modules.
