E92 330d '08 Professional sat-nav display

When driving on unlit roads at night I often switch the display off. However, there remains a dim backlight (even with the brightness set to lowest) and, more annoyingly, the time/date/phone status bar at the bottom of the screen repeatedly illuminates for a few seconds and then goes off. Up here in rural Scotland we're blessed with some really good twisty 'B' roads with very little traffic and I find the display a little distracting in these conditions.

Is there any way of switching the display off completely?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Never managed to get my screen to turn off on my 335d.

No help to you but the LCI screen on my 09 3 series goes off completely.
