Help need diverter valve(s)!!!
Hi all,
Could someone help me out? I broke the vacuum line Y connector trying to install a boost gauge. Then to make matters worse, when trying to take the remaining plastic out of the vacuum lines i broke the nipple on one of the diverter valves. I think the plastic nipples were weak from the heat, etc. The damn lines were really stuck in there. Should I have used soapy water or some lubricant to help dislodge the Y connector? Can I drive the car with the vacuum lines unconnected? What will happen if I do? Does any vendor want to sell me forge diverter valves? If you have some in stock I would love to have them overnighted to me if possible. Vendors please PM me if you have then in stock and can possibly overnight them. Thanks

WHen taking off one of the DV tubing with the fabric to hook the boost tubing from the gauge a easier way is to razor the tip off the DV nippe and then cut off the leftover tubing left on the DV nipple...Cutting off 3mm of that fabric tubing will eliminate breaking anything...
They are open from 10am-3pm EST, give them a try tomorrow to see if they can get it to you by at least Monday...good luck! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=330243 |

I usually use a small 90 degree "pik" tool when removing vaccum lines. I'll spray little lube on the tool and insert it into the hose and move it around to loosen up the hose.

Anyone know how much stock diverter valves cost compared to the aftermarket, such as forge?

Well I finished the gauge install, but I can't use it until I fix the damn diverter valve haha. Went to the local BMW dealer and ordered a new diverter valve for $86 and the damn Y connector was $13 (what a rip). Everything should be back in order this friday, I hope.

Just out of curiousity, does anyone know where on earth the other end of the vacuum tubing from the Y connector goes? (the single long piece of tube), I have it disconnected and its causing half engine lights. I took off the air box to reconnect it apparently to the throttle body according to what I was told, and I honestly have no idea where it goes..
I did look at the tray part of the stock airbox and there is a round hole in which the tube plastic connector looks like it would fit.. but again I have no idea!! Anyone got any diagrams or know exactly where this little shit needs to go?? |

IT suppose to connect to a nipple at that location...If you broke that nipple off, you are pretty much screwed because its plastic....YOu need to replace the entire intake manifold which runs about 600 bucks or so...
It looks as though this OP that just posted a thread has the same issue as you... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=361595 |
