Question tunit box for 320d n47

Hi
I'm new to the forum and the world of BMW

just taken delivery of my new 320d (177) msport touring ( have moved over to the "dark side" from volvo D5) and am well impressed with everything so far except the stock audio

i have a tunit vcr box from my old S60 common rail D5, which tun-it will re program and suppply the leads for the 320

have read with interest the spider box threads, and wondered if anyone had any experience with the tunit product ( which i have to say has served me well for 60k miles in the volvo)
grateful for any feedback, good or bad

I would recommend a Re-map over a tuning box although tuning boxes such as the Spider do work well on the 2.0 denzil's!

Welcome to E90Pizzle!

ok thanks

my previous feedback has always been to remap - RICA apparently do a great job on the volvo D5's .......

back to the old chestnut then i suppose - when it's serviced and still under warranty , should anything go wrong, will BMW be able to detect it's been chipped and look to invalidate the warranty?

i'll check out p torque though

I have a spider unit and it's been in to BMW and they have not said anything. As per my other thread, I took it off a few months back and had the BMW service guys do a smooth idle test and they never said anything. Once my warranty is up I will be doing a remap though.

Tuning boxes are not the best method of tuning the later BMW engines due to the DPF's

A remap carried out on the dyno is the only correct way to tune an engine well, both in terms of performance results and reliability

Seems to do exactly what it says on the box. Very noticeable increase in low down grunt and improved fuel economy. Box takes minutes to put on or take off and can be transfered to another car at a later date or sell it as the unit for the 320D fits a lot of other cars. BMW does not pick up that the box has been fitted if removed before a service.

What's not to like ?

KW bhp Nm
Original values 130 177 350
With P-Tronic 166 226 458

ps. a tip for buying cheaper. If you know someone outside Europe order online (save 15%) then get it sent overseas and pay no VAT (they don't charge additional postage either). I paid around 480 pounds + 8 pounds to post it back from Australia !
