AMS turbo updates... where we are at
I am very sorry for the lack of time I have spent on E90 guys. We have been inundated with projects here at the shop and our N54 Program took a back seat for a bit.
I wanted to give you guys a status on where we are at. We have tested some different bolt on turbos on our shop car. Some worked well and some worked better. The best performing set is currently on my car at its making about 440whp on pump gas with stock like spool The problem is that the machine time needed to make these turbo's is very intense. To be honest its just not really feasible. Now the good news is that there is a chance we can CAST an entire new turbo and manifold setup for the car which would really open the doors up to how big we can go and what turbo selections are out there. The lead time would be roughly 6-8 months for this process and I wanted to see who would be interested in that? Here is dyno on 93 octane for the turbos on the car now. A casted housing turbo would certainly produce much more power. power Modifications: AMS FMIC AMS 3" catback CP-E catless DP's CP-E Upper IC pipe with Tial BOV CP-E Standback Engine management system Fuel: 93 octane |

nice, thanks for the update, good numbers for no meth... a year ago, on 93 pump gas and at 18 psi ASR made 485 wheel, but that was with meth, and that was on old v3 logic. I would suggest doing the entirely new turbo/cast set-up, only reason being is there are a few companies now that offer upgraded CHRA's.
good luck.

eric , can you be more specific about what you have in mind?
cast twins? a-la td04 size? or a header and dp combo, and an off-the-shelf 35r with external wg? -scheherazade |

yeah thats what I was getting at, and Eric replied to me that 450-460 is possible, and I assume thats still without meth. very impressive to say the least. however I am guessing the board is going to blow up on this thread and request AMS does the cast set-up, everyones been craving a single, maybe AMS can beat HPF to the punch

Yes, this was without methanol injection.
Single we are not going to tackle. The idea behind the casting is to cast an entirely new manifold and turbine housing set up to allow for a bigger / more efficient turbos then what we can work with now. Still in the stock location...just bigger For instance maybe GT28RS in a housing that is properly matched for them. Or T28's etc. I am not showing you this because you cannot have it. I am showing you the thread to see what we have been up to and the latest possibility on the engineering block. Eric |

I cannot really comment on the above Mwahlert. that will really have to be determined after it gets dissected more. We would love to integrate as much as we can but I don't want to sacrifice too much performance in the process. Again this is all just an idea now but the casting company is really interested in it.

A pair of Disco Potatoes, ftw!
I'd be curious to see a dyno that starts around 1,000-1,500 rpm so we can see how it spools down low. I don't think you'll have any problem at all finding customers if the price is not too high. |

Thanks AMS for the update, nice dyno's numbers. I'm thinking with some tuning and meth you could reach 500whp.. how much do you think these bigger twins can get us on 91-93octane?
