Want to blind tailgaters, gimme a hand.

So today I looked in my rear view mirror and found someone cramming their car up my tailpipes on multiple occasions. I have done the rear fogs mod, and I turned them on for these considerate people to marvel at, but they would only back off for a second (I assume they thought I was braking) before coming right back in. Not good enough. I want to teach these guys a lesson. Is there a bulb replacement option for me? A VERY bright one that will do the trick?

My car's an E90 LCI. Thanks!

You COULD move out of the way, let them pass, go behind them, and high-beam them with your extremely bright xenons?

HID reverse lights, been done before. I wouldn't risk causing an accident like that though. Slow down to astronomically slow speeds and they'll get the point.

I'm gonna say this is a bad idea. Especially if it causes an accident...

Now if you lived in South America and wanted to get away from kidnappers I'd support you 100%

just use your windshield washer. it usually over sprays to the car behind you especially if they are that close.

Tailgaters are a fact of life. No matter what you do, you can't really stop them. It's the douchebaggery embedded inside their DNA.

actually if they're that close, it usually means your going too slow and you should let them pass or there's just a high volume of cars and they're all stuck together because there's no room to pass people.

james bond 007 used to have this trouble, his aston martin db5 had a bullet proof screen that popped out of the boot to stop the headlights and then he could drop oil and sharp tacks onto the road behind him, very effective!

I would use windshield washer fluid, and then a brake check.

What I do if they tailgate at speeds of 75+ ( at which point there is no excuse to tailgate ) is I slow down and then when they move over to the next lane, I let my twin turbo'd car take over and accelerate ahead chances are their car won't be faster than yours

Disagree. I think where I live must be the tailgate capital of the world. People don't necessarliy want to go faster. They just think that 3 feet is the proper trailing distance from the car in front of you. It drives me crazy! This situation occurs at 35 or 75 MPH, so, clearly, not an issue of me not driving fast enough.

OP, I've thought about keeping a mega-candle power hand-held spotlight in the car just to shine back at them so they will back off.

One day I was stuck behind a guy in a van doing 50 in a 65mph zone and he actually brake checked me (I wasn't even that close to him also). I'm not a violent person but I honestly wanted to beat the shit out of the guy right then and there.

I don't condone this, but I'll tell you that everytime I can't see someones front license plate behind me, I get proactive and make sure my breaks will function in an emergency stop....if you know what I mean...usually takes one or two "break checks" and they get the idea. That, or if there aren't alot of cars behind them, I'll slow down to like 20MPH and wait for them to move around me, high beam them for a good 10 minutes, and then go get back in front of them, the entire time showing my finger.
