Dinan "chip" how to tell
Hey everyone. I have been lurking on here for a while, finally I gave in and traded my 2008 Accord for an 2007 335I Coupe 6MT. The BMW dealer that sold me the vehicle stated that it had a Dinan Chip. I asked for documentation but all they had was the word of the previous owner. My question is; how can I tell if it has a dinan chip? I don't think Dinan actually sells a chip, but maybe a tune?
Second issue is that I want to get a JB3, will I have to remove the Dinan software (if it has it)? |

Dinan has a flash, not a chip per se. IF the dealer told you "had" the dinan they probably flashed the car stock before selling it to you.

Dinan should have a record of this somewhere. You should also be able to get it reflashed with the Dinan software for free. I believe those flashs follow the car and not the owner.

the dealer stated that they left the car as is and left the "chip". As soon as the SA started saying chip I kinda felt like he didn't know what he was talking about.

Drive another 335 that you know doesn't have it and you should be able to notice the difference quite significantly. Also, don't be fooling around with a piggy back tune with the Dinan tune (or any other flash tune) still installed - that won't work unless it's specifically made to work with it.

^while this is usually true, a procede controls boost as a standalone, rather than modifying the ecu's signals. From what I have read, it will work fine over any flash based tune. If I was the OP I would go to the dealer and make sure that the dinan software is even on there first.

call up Dinan, give them your VIN and they can tell you.. don't go back and ask the dealer.. and if you are afraid the car was reflashed back to stock, the Dinan software can be flashed back again for free.. hope this helps, I have Dinan stage 2

Go to the track and if you are trapping 4-5mph then the ECU has been re-flashed with Dinan.
If you are a new guy I will tell you Dinan sucks for power (there are better options including flashes) but drivability is suppose to be good ((never drove a Dinan car)) |

If it is on there, it will show up in your service records since Dinan reports all Vin#'s that have been programmed to BMWNA
PM me the last 7 digits of your Vin and ill look it up for you. -Scott

Put in a boost gauge and see what you get when you floor it.
Stock max is about 8 psi, Dinan should be about 12-13 psi if present I believe.

Quite a few people with a Dinan flash I recall put a JB+ on their cars. Eugen (a moderator from Switzerland) put one on his car, with a different flash tune. Though if you plan on doing so, I'm pretty sure you need to get BMS to customize it for you, so talk to them about it, if you end up having a Dinan tune before flashing back to stock and getting a JB3/Procede.

I am hoping during a service inspection I can request a flash back to stock to clear it out to make sure. Than add whatever I want. The car does not feel significantly faster than other 335's I've driven but I've only test drove autos and this is a 6mt so the feeling is very different.
