service Intervals
My LCI E90 330d has 9k on the clock, and suggests it will need a service in another 14k miles. That would be 23k miles between oil changes. Does this sound right.
I had thought the service would be each 20k, and i had intended doing an interim oil change each 10k, so that the car had fresh oil every 10k, and would have 2 oil changes between each inspection service. If it is going to do 23k between official services, I will need to stretch the interim oil changes to around 11-12k. Wasnt that long ago that diesels needed servicing every 6k. Is it me, or is 23k way too long between oil services ?? Thanks again.... |

It's all variable service intervals based on driving style / conditions, so it can be tricky to guess a long way ahead. If you want to do short oil changes yourself, just do it at 10K regardless and take it in the the dealers at 20k and get it done even if its early, they'll just reset the interval again. I do mine every 8K as I'm happier with that, and as its not a long interval I can use a pukka performance oil instead of overpriced LL oil. |

Fully synthetic oil lasts considerably longer than traditional oil. The interval you are seing is correct. Depending on driving conditions/style the interval will be shorter/longer. Nothing wrong in changing the oil yourself, not bothered myself TBH.

You will probably find that as the miles roll on, the total mileage to service will shorten more quickly than the miles mount up so it wouldn't be surprising if you had to have the service at 20k.
