IAT scoop testing on DCI

I was doing a couple logs last night (45 deg F outside) with my scoops and wanted to post the results to see what you guys think. Right now i can't draw any conclusions because I dont think i did enough testing. The first 2 runs were without scoops (ie tapping up the snorkel so no air flows in from the scoops). The second 2 runs are with the tape remove and scoops pushing air under hood through intake snorkel. All runs were WOT runs shifting through 1st four gears on a 6MT.

Best I can gather is that on my second run I heatsoaked (I'm stock except for JB3 and DCI) and then 3rd and 4th run with scoops my delta change in temperature was not as much as second run so maybe there is "some" benefit from scoops with DCI.

Delta IATs:
iat1: 35F
iat2: 53F
iat3: 41F
iat4: 46F

I should have tested with a 5th and 6th run without scoops again to see what would happen.

I know I need to do some more testing so I'm open to suggestions.

Seems like your first run was the best but was that because it wasnt heat soaked?

Maybe some more time between runs would help distinguish the benefit more?

I think for this to be meaningful you would have to start each run at the same base intake temp starting point......otherwise the intercooler is having too much of an influence on the results.

And even at that....you should be starting at the same intercooler temp otherwise heatsoak is having too much impact too.

But no way to really measure that unless you rig up some external sensors.

Sorry!

After looking and thinking about the data a bit more, Im not sure I can think of a test with my car to quanity this becasue the only thing that determins how high the IATs get is how long I am on WOT, so if I lift off sooner, it starts to cool sooner. maybe by rpm matching the logs but then you have the issues that ar eposted above with heat soak, starting intake temps, and intercooler temps. Oh well.
