Passenger-restraint malfunction

So I recently got the "Passenger-restraint malfunction" error pop up on my E90. The dealer quoted the cost of fixing it to be around $1400. Is there a way I can fix it myself? I heard about this error being caused by a disconnected wire under the seat. Is this true?

I have a 2009 E90 and 4 days ago I started the car and got this same error. I drove the car 10 mintues, turned it off, and I've never seen the error come back since....
