Got my front license plate off, holes plugged. What do you think?
I finally got my front license plate off and got some plugs to fill the holes. I got the plugs form autozone and painted and clear coated them. I wasn't going to spend $35 on a pair of them from online when I could do them myself. All together it costed me about $15 and thats with me buying the bigger cans of spray paint and clear coat. The paint isn't oem but looks pretty darn close to me. I can't believe how much better it looks. You can actually see how good the front of the car looks without a huge annoying plate blocking it.

Always better with no front plate.
Unfortunately, in CA it's a requirement. I have the tickets to prove it! Gotta say, tho, on my black coupe, it isn't nearly the eyesore it would be on a lighter-colored car.

for those that have installed bumper plugs, how do you get the stupid things to go in straight and sit flush on the bumper? I got the generic assortment of door fasteners from Autozone and painted a couple of the different styles but i can't get them to go in straight and sit flat against the bumper. They seem to go in straight but then they're always a tiny bit crooked when fully in.
Did you guys have to cut off a portion of the plug stem so it wouldn't go crooked when pushed in all the way? This is driving me nuts! |

so i sanded the holes down even more and snipped a little off the end of the plug but it's still not as flush as i want it to be. the OPs pictures make it look like the plugs are completely flush against the bumper. maybe he can chime in.
am i being too much of a perfectionist? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
