Intercooler/Downpipes going on

Helix IC and AR Design DP are going on the car tonight. Any advice I should take to the shop doing the work?

I have these two DIY's printed.

thats the same DIY i also used for the Downpipe install, but i also used the other dowpipe DIY just for more info
just make sure you have a lot of time today and dont plan on using your car today if you run out of time.
downpipe install is pretty much striaght forward its just a bitch to get in the tight spaces and if you dont have a lift. the helix install is pie if you have all the tools needed
my guess is that it will take you 6 hrs tops if you dont run into problems

Make sure you have enough time to allow to do this....Make sure you are set not to do it all in one day! Good luck, but I feel for you when it comes to the dps if your doing it on rhino ramps!

Don't forget the dremel tool. You may have to cut some plastic pieces to fit the FMIC. Also, I would go get some 2.75" t-bolt clamps for the silicone tubes.

The 4 clamps that come with the Helix not good enough? Best place to buy the t-bolt clamps? Autozone?

The work will be done on a lift.

In addition to my question about the T-Bolt clamps ...

I had the intercooler anodized - if I rub my finger across it a little bit of black stuff comes off, just left over whatever.

I'm assuming I'll want to get all of this off before the install yes? If so, what should I use .. gas? water?

SAVE YOUR $$$

the murray turbo seal clamps we use are as good as any t bolt clamp as they are designed specifically for turbo use they also fit between the factory charge pipe bead rolls so no leaks!

"A constant tension worm gear clamp designed to compensate for the effects of thermal cycling and/or compression set of hose. Turbo Seal’s convoluted spring action band solves this problem. This clamp is used in automotive, off-highway, agriculture, heavy duty, aircraft (non flight critical applications only), and military industries and can be found on turbo chargers, tanks, air-to-air, cooling, and fuel lines.

Murray’s unique “DUAL BEAD SHIELD” concentrates band sealing pressure, increasing performance up to 30% compared to standard smooth liners. Flanged edges protect soft hose compounds."

I have never had any issues with my helix pipes blowing off - this explains why!

It took me a day & half to get the DPs done. Getting off the passenger side DP hanger bolt was the hardest part and then aligning the DPs.

This link that you have for your intercooler install was also very helpful for the DPs.

The good news was I did not have to trim the shroud for my IC install. I simply had to tilt the bottom end of the radiator fan towards the back of the car and it slid right in.

measure the bottom thickness(thickest part) of the fmic then measure the distance from the radiator shroud to the plastic cowl if measurements are the same or bigger the fmic will go right in without any trimming

I say save the $$$ and install the FMIC yourself, it's fairly easy and very rewarding. The Dp's, on the other hand, are a PITA.

Yes dps are PITA but worth it word of advice make sure you align the pipes correctly so you have clearance and are not rubbing the front brace.

For the dp bolts for the hanger....get yourself a really long extension with a swivel head and attack it from the exhaust where it meets the dp and exhaust flange...Basically use that extension from there to get hold of the top DP hanger bolt...That bolt alone took me about 3 hours to get off because I followed the DIY with the stubby wrench, but it didn't work...I went to AUtozone and bought their longest extension and used the swivel and it came out like butter...That was my only obstacle!!!

Started at 10pm - ended at 5am. Intercooler and Downpipes are both on and as far as I remember, both working great! Big thanks to JNF Kustomz in Mesa for doing the work and doing it right.

I was sleepy and drove home like an old grandma so I'll give it a better run today.
