How to set destination in Interactive Map?

Apologies if this has been asked before...

With the latest generation iDrive, the manual suggests it is possible to set a destination from the interactive map but I've tried all sorts of button and controller combinations and it doesn't seem to set the current cursor position as the destination (it keeps wanting to set the car position).

Am I doing something crazy? I'm used to doing this with a tomtom and have been pleasently surprised with the iDrive navigation but find that setting a destination point interactively is a great way to fine tune where you want to go.

Any ideas greatfully received...

From memory, you align the crosshairs over the desired finish point and press the idrive knob to mark the spot, press the option button and select it to "navigate too"

Great stuff - many thanks!

I was being fooled by the fact that when you press 'Option' the menu says 'Save Current vehicle Posn' which you automatically think is where you physically are. In fact - it refers to where the cross hairs are on the Interactive Map so it works fine.

I originally went for the iDrive option because of the integration with the car and iPod but the sat nav is winning me over more and more!

Thanks again

You have to also scroll to the 'flag' icon next to the location selected. That fooled me the first couple of times

The interactive map is superb for planning detours around roadworks. Scout around for side roads, select a point midway along a suitable route and away you go.

Even better, since you can now have multiple destinations, you can also add your original destination as well.
