central locking issue
guys, need help!!
got home, locked the car, hazards flashed and heard locks clunk. mrs went out, came back indoors and cant unlock the car. i go out and all doors minus the drivers are open.. get in via passenger door and cant even manually open the drivers door from the inside... can open it from the outside with the key though.... so all doors open, click "lock" and only the drivers door locks again!!! agghh!!! any ideas???

its a common fault apparantly. the door lock actuators create a amperage spike and blow fuse 57. the quick fix is to uprate the fuse to a 20A from 15A.
This has fixed it for me for now, but currently all doors unlock except for the drivers door, so i need a new door lock actuator i think. thats balls too, as i think the actuator is part of the whole lock mechanism and not a single replaceable part.... will update when find out more..

iv got the same issue, but its my front passenger side that wont lock/unlock with the keyfob or button on dash. i can however, open it from the handle inside.
it is a common fault as i looked up on here, but the fuses were fine, even when i replaced them it didnt work so im guessing its the acuator. anyone know how much it costs? |

My passenger door went and did the exact same thing around October last year. The rest of the car worked and locked and unlocked but the passenger door refused and only when I pulled the lever from the inside did it open. Took it to BMW and they replaced the actuator under warranty.

This is why I disabled the speed-locking option on my car, to save the actuators.
Any of you have it on?

Hi i had the same problem, i changed the actuator & replaced the 15amp with a 20amp. The actuator is a bit of a bugger to get out, but it is possible, you have to remove th e interior panel, the door handle, basically strip the door. Once you have done this the central locking works perfectly. Here is the part from real oem
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...33&hg=41&fg=40 There is a thread about this, but cant seem to find it. Hope it helps |
