JB 3 2.0, feel slow after map switch

I installed the jb3 2.0 on Wednesday and switched to map 3 immediately. Definitely notice the car has quite a bit more power right away. And the pull at 2nd gear from 40mph to 70mph is quite unbelievable at first.

So I was being a little impatience, and decided to switch to map 5 on Thursday night. From my butt dyno, it seems like map 5 is slower than map 3 even after more than 50 miles of spirited driving.

So the question is how long does it take for the car to be fully adapted. Maybe I should leave it on map 3 for a week and then switch to map 5?

The car is fully stock btw.

Did you switch maps on or confirm via laptop, or did you just pedal switch?

What octane gas are you using and what have the weather temps been in the last week in your area? Both of these things will matter for map 5.

We usually recommend 2-3 days on map3 before going up to map5. Also with map5 make sure you have the proper octane requirement and you have at least a DCI in terms of engine mods.

I use 93 for the car. The weather has been rather chilly actually, around 40 degree. Guess I should switch back to map 3 then.

No. The suggestion is just so people with new installs can verify its all working as it should be, get used to the default power increase, etc. If you like to run map 0 a lot check out the cold start feature in the latest 4/4 firmware. Cool stuff.

One WOT run-through if you're switching between actual tuned maps is enough to get at least 90% adaptation.

just a little update.

So I switched back to map 3 last week. But somehow the car just don't pull as strong as it was when I first put the chip in. Even in 2nd gear, it is very difficult to get the tires to spin, which is something very easy to achieve before. The car is A LOT SLOWER than it was on JB+ at 70% setting.

I have reset the ECU, knock adaption, vano adaption, etc. through BT cable this weekend and put the car back on map 3. It felt great at first. But at the middle of the drive, I can feel the car become less responsive. Don't know what happened, but it feels like there are a lot more lag at sub-3k rpm and the engine lacks top end power. Don't think it is possible, but can the ECU adaption actually make the car slower over time?

I couldn't find any code with the BT cable. But I have a data logging cable which I didn't install with the JB3 at first. Think it is worth it to open up the ECU again and check everything is connected alright and attach the data logging cable along the way? Could it be any other problem with the car? Mine is a MY09, automatic transmission.

It's easy to spot if everything is working as it should be from a JB3 datalog. So do that and send it in to BMS.
