04-08-2010 map log - comments?
I datalogged this morning. Map1 UT 50 IC 50 on 93 octane. Map2 was UT 60 IC 30. Future Use 1 13, meth mix 70/30. I could not get meth to spray last night or this morning no matter what I try, I'm usng the remote and hitting the on button, but not a drop has pumped. Gotta double check everything.
Map1 feels very strong. How does this look for map 1? (debug byte 7, meth flow is displayed with RPM, it did not move): |

Knock.... Knock... Knock
Who's There? Not really liking that timing curve. Two events in the same gear is a bit much. But I guess if meth would have been spraying it would be different story. |

Thanks. Yep, will bump map 1 up to 70 IC and see if I can get the meth flowing soon.

Good news. I figured out why meth was not working. One of the remotes that came with the kit is a dud. Kneeling back by the trunk the one I tried last night and this morning, when you hit on, you could not hear a click in the remote switcing box, off, no click either.
I dug the other remote out of the box and presto, I hear the remote switch working! Took the car out, did a couple of quick 2nd gear logs, just to look at meth flow and IAT, and it's now working. Looked at the tank and the meth level went down. I feel much better now! Will go do some good 3rd gear logs soon. Probably do away with the remote and wire up a switch next weekend. |

Scott congrats on getting it working finally! I told you about the remote that I didn't like about it!! lol Anyway looking at your logs you need to change the channel settings for debug byte 7 as folllows from Shiv instructions: Go to you datalog channels and add Debug Byte 7 to your list. Now, we are going to make a small change to the set-up parameters. Right now, it is probably set up (if its set up at all) to display in 1000ml/min. We want it to display in a scale of 0-100 instead since this is what Future Use 1 is scaled to accept. So set it up as follows: Units: Meth Flow (%) No of DPS: 0 Raw min/max: 0/255 Conv min/max: 0/100 Your using a M7 so you need to enter a value of 13 as per Shiv instructions...I have m5 and its a value of 11.....M10 value is 15 |

Is this better? Ran with 93 octane 70/30 meth. Map1 = UT 50, IC 60 map2 = UT 65, IC=40.
The meth flow value (no shown) was right at 13, by 4000 rpm and held there while throttle was 100. IAT's start to drop out right after meth starts flowing. It was about 50 degrees out at the time of the run. |

For the hell of it I ran my fully stock car (6AT, 93oct) @ 50% UT and 50% IC a handful of times and each time my results looked far better than the first image you posted.. here's one of mine...

I'm still trying to find the max I can do on UT/IC and it looks to be right around 40% UT and 75% IC on a fully stock car w/ repeatable results. For everyday use I just use 20% UT and 75% IC. Here's one from tonight @ 20% UT and 75% IC....

The procede sure is fun to dial in. I also looked at my learning gain value last night and I needed to drop it from 45 to 42 to get it up to 5%. |

cn,
Yup. I'm still waiting for a reply back from Shiv as to what constitutes a "significant" drop in timing. Is it ANY drop or only drops greater than 50% or what? As you can see I have that one drop in there from like 9->6, but I have no idea if thats "significant?" I assume it is, which is why I don't ever really run the car like that. For safety's sake the most I can do seems to be ~75% IC @ 40% UT.

The key thing seems to be that timing continues to advance right after the dip (as yours does ). If you had a flat or downward slope after that timing event, then that's an indicator the your timing has been maxed out and can go no higher. But I know what you are saying about safety. I don't like having any dips at all.....but I think they happen from time to time as the DME is constantly attempting to make maximum power. |

Thanks for posting these results guys.
I really appreciate the data, including your user settings. If this beta version ever gets finally released at least I have some idea of where to start dialing in. |
