Calipers finally painted - black !
Wanted to paint my rusty hubs and calipers, but not being very technical or mechanical I was a little unsure. Anyway, finally plucked up the courage to do them, so bought a trolley jack and torque wrench and got to work with some black hammerite...
Wanted to do them black as I thought it would be subtle and classy, very pleased with the results... Rusty Drying Finished

I did mine over two days to allow sufficient time for drying... I considered silver but thought black would match the paintwork and also hide the brake dust. I also thought red would look good, but thought it might stick out too much.
Thanks for positive comments guys, had some nice comments from friends in last few days too

Nice work.
Another job for me to add to the ever growing list. Done this on nearly every other car i've owned and find hammerite to be just as good and a whole lot cheaper than the purpose made (labelled) paint. |

Looks good. So glad you decided not to do red like the Corsa chavs do. The only calipers that should be red are Brembos.

For those that may be considering this, here is what I did...
Take wheels off, brush all the caliper and hub (but not the face of hub with the holes in), sprayed with Muc Off (bike cleaner, will not damage brake disc), rinse with water, dry with towel, leave to dry, brushed again with toothbrush, paint with black hammerite paint (take your time - do not paint disc or back of pads), leave to dry for 3 hrs, touch up any bits that you missed, put wheel back on. With my wheels I also had to paint the edge of the hub facing you (with holes in) as you can see actually see the edge when the wheels are on (see drying pic). Cheers for all the comments guys - hope this helps

Good for you. Odd though that the 330i has 348mm discs and the 335d has 348mm discs too.

Sorry butch
its just that your photos showed front - rear - then front so the wheel off shot i presumed was your front - when its your rear.............. hence the illusion of the caliper being tiny! |

Haha, yeah sorry. Pics were all a bit crappy so just took best ones, but yeah the drying pic is of rear. Before and after is of front wheel.
