BMW Performance Suspension vs. Eibach/ Koni FSD
What are thoughts about these two set ups? Which one would you pick and why? Is one better than the other? Pros and Cons etc... Thanks

I have a mixture, but on 135i: BMW Performance springs, FSD shocks, Dinan rear shock mounts, M3 front bar. It gives me exactly what I hoped: flat handling with no sacrifice in comfort and no problems with speed bumps or potholes. But I don't know if this combination would work on your car, since the Performance springs for your car are different.

I cant give you a comparison between the two systems. But i just recently installed the BMW performance suspension and am very happy in terms of performance and aesthetics. I think the Koni/Eibach system would give you a lower overall ride height if thats something that your looking for. However, there is something to be said about OEM packages. I used to work on designing off road cars and I know how much work goes into the design of that suspension system. I can only assume that BMW would go through a ton more research and testing some of the other after-market suspension manufacturers. Also, there years of experience in building performance systems would give them a large advantage. Hope this helps you decide.

BMW performance suspension will have flatter handling and more precise steering. Eibach/Koni will have more comfort and probably more noticeable drop.

I really want the BMW Performance Suspension, for the reasons mentioned above about OE development. I just don't want 'marginally' improved performance over my current Sport suspension. I want a seriously tight car. The problem is I've been driving my brother's M3. I'd be very happy with my car handling like the M3 at it's softest setting. Is the BMW Performance susp. even close to that, I wonder?

If you're going for something that is stiff or tight for track purposes I would steer away from either of these choices. They are both leaning on the comfort side of the spectrum but you gotta remember that it's all relative. Compared to a stock sport suspension or a non-sport suspension they're night/day. I was considering both the BMW Perf and the Koni/Eibach combo and for the price I couldn't justify the steep increase in the BMW kit. However with that kit you are getting OEM equipment which is a value unto itself in terms of warranty. Bottom line though is that I'm extremely pleased with Koni FSD/Eibach setup |

Do you want the car to look more flush? Or is this only for performance?
I know you want first hand notes here but I can tell you that I've read most threads about both on here. EVERYONE loves the eibach/FSD combo that has it unless they lived somewhere with really crappy roads...there are a couple...and even they liked the setup otherwise...but the drop is VERY subtle with the pro kit. I have also read nothing but great about the BMW performance...but again..the drop is subtle..... I'm asking because I was worried about all of this but when it came down to it...as much as I love the increased performance....I had to have my car LOOK dropped after...that's why I went with H&R sport...with FSD's...and I am very happy with it..

Anybody know how much the drop is for an E92 on the rear wheels? I have the stock sports suspension and the rear seems as it shouldn't drop anymore
BMW says the overall drop is about 25mm, but is the drop equal for the front and rear? ![]() ![]() |

I'm pretty sure it's less than an inch....the H&R sport was and it's more of a drop..

i actually have had the eibach/koni setup for about 1.5 years and i like the quality in performance but i hate the ride quality on bumps and bad roads. fortunately i live in OC so not too many bad roads here. It is the worst however with 4 or 5 people in the car. I am probably going to try the performance setup soon for improved ride quality.
