Hi Guys,

as i've seen on the US-BMW-Site the prices are much lower than in germany

my 325dA e92 has a price of almost 57.000€ (around 70.000$ right now, back in 2008 when i got it, it was ~82.000$!!)) - prices including german tax of 19%!
so please tell me what did you guys pay for your cars and please give me a little statement about your configuration!

if you read my post, you'd have read that i've been to the BMW-USA Site, but i want to know prices people really pay in the end (incl. tax!)

Well, then, here's my order.

My 2011 E91 w/s ZSP and ZVP came to about $33.5.

The same car (EU-Spec v. my US-Spec) in holland--with VAT and luxury tax--would have come to around €70K (this was a lot more three months ago, before the Euro started to tank).

so holland is even more expensive than germany...interesting...
in germany a really fully loaded e92 335i gets up to 70k€

the new F10 525d fully loaded reaches 90k€ btw, absolutely crazy!

Yes, very expensive here in Europe. Keep in mind that 20% of the cost is VAT (i.e. "sales tax") and--often times--another 20% is luxury tax. We would not have bought a new car if he had been required to pay EU prices.

Now let us compare university tuition: Americans pay $30K plus per year while Europeans pay next to nothing, receive free rail tickets, etc.

i payed 9.000€ per year for university + 12.000€ per year for my apartment
21.000€ is around 27-28.000$ (1€ - 1,30$) thats not so far away
free rail tickets? never heard of that -_-

in germany the sales tax is 19%, but it'll probably be 25% soon...


today 1 euro is worth 1,25$ but just 1 year ago it was at 1,45$!!
so it was more like 30-31.000$ per year...

In order to remain off topic, I will mention that the US tuition bill does not include housing, food, beer, BMWs etc, etc.

I can sell at any time. If I sell it to a EU citizen, I will first have to pay the sales tax and road tax (very expensive, nearly 40% in Hollland). I can ship it to the US at any time and either keep the car or sell it (without being taxed).

Also interesting: If I total the car here in Europe, the taxes have to be paid; thus, I will have to insure the value of the car + around 40%.

My US 128i cost almost exactly in dollars what it would cost in Germany in Euros. At the time that was +50%.

I don't think so. If the Euro = $ then the prices would be OK. The exchange rate was 1.5 when I bought my 128i. If the US price was adjusted for the exchange rate my 128i would have cost $60,000 and I would have never bought it.

I am guessing that the prices are adjusted for what the local market will pay and the prices of competing cars.
