Fair price assessment for 2007 cpo 328i
Hello everyone
I'm about to buy my first bmw , and I was wondering if someone here could help me assess whether I'm paying the right price for the car that I have my eyes on: 2007, 328i, Sedan, CPO, 37.5 k miles, has premium, sports and cold weather package. Silver exterior and black interior. I'm in Detroit area. Currently the dealer has offered 24k (came down from 25k), I am planning to offer 22.5k. Do you think that is more or less or about par? Thank you all in advance for your input! - Proton |

Man! I live in The Netherlands, you know, right next door to BMW country, and the same car overhere costs 40.000 Euro (which is about 50K usd)...... In my book 24K is reasonable....
By the way, high car prices are because some tax called "BPM". But on the other hand, we've always had a good healthcare system., thanks government........ grrrrmbl..

In January I bought a 2007, 328i, Coupe, non-CPO, 45 k miles, has premium, sports and cold weather package. 6speed manual, Silver exterior and black interior.
Generally, I've seen the coupe selling for $2-5k more than sedans. Though, yours is CPO'd and has a few less miles. Definitely do not pay $24k, I would think it would be more worth around $20k |

CPO in itself is around 2-3k. 24k is kind of high but not too bad, if you can get it for 22.5k then thats a really good deal. Go for it

Thank you for pitching in. I made an offer 22.5k. The SP sounded as if my offer is ridiculously low and said that it is not acceptable. Yet to hear back again.

What kind of shape is the car in?
I just purchased a loaded '07 328i Wagon with 32k which is indistinguishable from new (including new tires). The original asking price was $29,700 and after some haggling, the final price was almost $2k less. I was going to wait for an F30 wagon, but when one became available 40 miles from me with a stickshift, I made the purchase. And so far, I'm really enjoying the E90 - it's a much nicer ride than my '99 E46. Since you are only $1,500 apart, perhaps you can offer $500 more and make the deal. Tom |

Tom K, the car is in excellent condition as far as I could tell. Should I have it examined by an independent mechanic? It sounds redundant for a CPO.
I'm also considering another car that is also very similar (07 328 sedan, cpo, 38k miles), but has few additional options such as hi-fi sound, xenon lamps and park distance control (I don't really value these all that much though). This one is located at another dealer and he has offered to sell it to me at 25k. One interesting thing about this 2007 model is that it has been owned only for 2 years, so I would have nearly 2 year original (only 12k miles left to reach 50k but I'd be only driving about 6k/year anyway) + 2 cpo warranty on it. I am wondering what is a par price and the max you guys would pay for the one above and for the one I mentioned in my first post. I'm not sure what price I should offer, as my first offer (22.5k for the one I mentioned in my first post) didn't evoke much interest from the dealer. |

The trade-in (wholesale) value of a 2007 E90 (Sedan) 328i with 6MT, Sport Package, dual power seats (Premium Package), and 37.5k miles is:
$16,925 + $1,300 (estimate) to recondition the vehicle. + $1,500 (estimate) for the 6yr/100k mile BMW CPO warranty (the CPO isn’t as critical or expensive on a 328i) + dealer overhead. + dealer profit. = $ ________ IMO, $22,000 to $22,500 is a fair deal as a FINAL sale price. I’d start with an initial offer of $20,000 and work up from there.

Thanks TJDiCandido.
Its an steptronic auto. I just checked Galves numbers, I get 18.1k as trade-in value for the car. Factoring that into your nice equation, I should be looking at 23k or atmost 23.5k? |
