Here is a link that provides more details on the power seat motor issue that is holding up cars at the Performance Centers:

Thanks. This confirms what my dealer told me a couple of weeks ago. He also said its not just BMW's, but also MB, Volvo etc. because they use same manufacturer. Me thinks it's not a "shortage" in production, but a safety recall that backed up the builds. MB had several power seat module safety complaint issues in April.

My build was right on the "cusp" of the supposed delayed vehicles April build dates.

Does anyone know which build weeks in April were affected by this? My car was built between April 29 and May 3 and it arrives in port this week, so I hope I'm outside the affected range. Any ideas?

We are both close. Looks like April builds between the 11th and 30th (Weeks 15-17) are affected, possibly more. My build was in last week of April. Here is a copy of the notice from BMW:

Thanks -- that's very helpful. I suppose it depends on how you define weeks of the year. According to my Outlook calendar, weeks 15-17 represent April 4th-24th because Outlook counts the first partial week of the year as the first week.

Are BMW's production weeks published somewhere? In other words, is there any way of knowing for sure whether BMW defines weeks 15-17 as 4/4-4/24 or 4/11-5/1?

Sorry, I don't have a clue but I think your CA could give you that info. Plus he should know if you are affected. I ordered on April 21 and my CA notified me a couple weeks ago that mine is affected by the seat campaign. I don't think my car went into actual production until the 24th or 25th if that helps.

I hope you are lucky and get it next week since the PATRIOT just offloaded in Baltimore last Thursday, May 29th. By the time it clears customs, the VPC, and then gets to SoCal (if that's where you are taking delivery) I'd think it might be a little longer.

I don't mind a little wait since I'm leasing. I have an extension on my '07 335i until August 23rd and they can put me to back of the line if they want. I'd like to see better MF before delivery, plus my payments are a lot lower now.

I called the 800 number this morning. To my surprise, my vehicle is now in transit. Spoke to my advisor this afternoon...he told me that I should be able to pick it up on Thursday!

BTW, I paid $50 to rush delivery.

I guess all the schedules are messed up. I'm away for a week and I got a message tonight that my CA called today and said my car is in and waiting on me! Damn, I took this business trip because he said there would be at least a 2 week delay! Now it's gonna sit there all lonely for another week before it hits my garage.

Today my advisor called me to inform me that my car has arrived! I'm picking her up tomorrow. By paying the $50 "priority service" I got bumped to the head of the line at the prep center.

I'm pretty impressed with how quickly the car arrived...the car left Germany on 5/14. Without the Memorial Day holiday, I probably could have had the car on Tuesday. I would highly recommend the priority service option. I should have paid for the shipping fast track (where you don't have to wait for a boat to leave Germany).

Dropped my car off on Wed - unfortunately today is yet another German holiday. Hopefully it makes it to port on Friday. My seat worked fine this past week.
