MT owners what gear on highway?
just got 2011 e90 335i and I find myself staying in 4th gear running at 80-90 mph. RPM between 3.5/4K RPM. So it's not screaming and seems to be in the sweet spot RPM wise. I'm sure my mpg will suffer, but I really don't care... Curious if anyone else runs mostly in 4th on the highway...

If I'm cruising, then 6th for sure. There is no need to keep the RPMs up unless you floor it to 100+ often or you are racing someone. I have a 328 and passing power is still ample at 2.5k in 6th.

My take on this is that:
you need power - downshift to proper gear based on your needs (3rd / 4th gear) you need to get from one place to another - use 6th gear once above 50mph Better MPG and less heat for the car |

6th. If you need power, downshift. No sense in running at 4k rpm all day. Not only are you wasting gas, but you're wearing down your engine faster. If you are too lazy to shift when you need power, you should have bought an auto.

I guess it's just a new car thing (2 days), still accelerating around everyone and enjoying the torque. I'm sure I'll get bored with it and end up in 6th...

Above 65, I'm almost always in 6th gear cruising along.
Occasionally, I'll be in 5th....depending on what mood I'm in
