Please Help: Is this a good deal? (my first BMW!)
Hi guys,
Been shopping around a lot for my first BMW and finally after much negotiation and time came up with this offer. 2011 328xi coupe Premium package, Value package, Navigation, metallic paint, heated seats, and sat radio. MSRP is 45,800 He is selling to me for 43900, as a lease with 4400 down and 579 a month for 36 months (10k/ year), including taxes/reg/etc. Can anyone more experienced please opine on whether this is a take it deal or keep shopping (and if anyone has any advice on a better dealer near NYC that would be much appreciated.....this particular one is in NJ but the car is going to NYC) THANKS so much This forum has been so helpful -Adam |

You're approaching the negotiation from the wrong direction, you should be going up from invoice not down from MSRP. Invoice is closer to $40,885 - I'd be aiming for around invoice +500.

contact jessica larotta at bmw of bayside. she was able to give me a deal on a new 2011 at 500 over invoice.
so whatever your invoice is + 500 profit + 500 maco/training would be the price. good luck |

When you calculate a lease also get all the numbers such as what fees, exact taxes, due at signing, money factor so you can calculate it and see what others are getting. And like what they said, always work up from invoice rather than down from MSRP.

I just got quoted for a 328i coupe; $45,675 MSRP, sell price of $42,505
Car has premium, m sport, navigation, comfort access and heated seats.. $536/month with $3,793 due at signing; $550 of that being a refundable security deposits and taxes due at signing. i'm sure they can do a lot better |

I've read a lot of people here qoute 500 over invoice as a good deal? Where edmunds TMV and a lot of places are saying 1700 is pretty reasonable. As a CA can I ask how many people here think 500 is a good return on investment? BTW your MSRP isn't matching up for what you say you're getting any reason why?

For lease, SOME dealers match Base Rate and do Zero Markup. Unbelievable isnt it? What does the Finance Manager get? But it happens. Some dealerships can do a great lot of business and have varied strategies. They earn upto $1000 from BMWNA per car based on the National Customer Satisfaction Ratings (dont know what the exact acronym is) if they get great ratings. I hope nobody comes after me for this, if I am less than 100% sure. There is much more to just selling car at, above or below invoice. 500 above invoice is still a conservative estimate if you live in a place with many dealers competing to earn your business. Sorry for the interruption guys, i'm just curious the price you're talking about is out the door price?(final price) or just selling price without tax + doc fees...etc. ?
Thanks |

That is the starting point. Most other things vary by state so it is kind of not an apples to apples comparison for OTD pricing. Invoice price is also listed item/pkg/options wise on Edmunds for the BMWs. |

do not use edmund tmv!!!
you can get a much better deal. when i checked 2011 335i coupe TMV price in March, the tmv was the same as MSRP. it is starting to come down now but just aim for 500-1000 over invoice. |
