-= CIC Navigation Retrofit and more =-

The complete solution to retrofit the latest Navigation system (CIC) in E9x and E6x vehicles.
Based exclusively on OEM parts and OEM activation.

The E60 Basic CIC Retrofit Kit (the E9x version includes the same parts):

####################################

Read it first:

I am proud to announce I am the only vendor offering the CIC Retrofit Kits based exclusively on OEM parts and OEM activation.
However, If you are thinking of working with somebody else who says that can do it for you please note that the installation of all parts in your car is just the first step to retrofit the CIC successfully.
The most important is to activate the Navigation and code the car in order to make sure that all modules can work with each other and with the CIC.
I have installed many CIC retrofits in cars produced from 2004 and there have been major differences in how these cars reacted to the CIC
and how they had to be coded and programmed in order to make sure that all car options were compatible with the CIC.

OEM Activation of the Navigation vs. Aftermarket module

The way I activation the Navigation and/or the Voice Control is fully OEM.
It means I buy special activation codes from BMW (VIN specific) and load them into the CIC as well as change the VIN in the CIC to match your VIN.
The cost of the codes is pretty high, so that's a reason why the complete OEM kit is more expensive than the aftermarket one.

If you find other people/companies offering cheaper CIC retrofit kits you might expect an aftermarket "activation" of the Navigation and Voice Control.

What does the aftermarket "activation" mean?
There is a module which can be installed in a car to tamper the communication between the CIC and the rest of the car.
The CIC includes the VIN of a car it comes from as well as the activation codes for that VIN, so if you buy a used CIC the VIN stored inside it does not match your VIN and the codes do not match your VIN either.
My OEM activation is to load your VIN and your codes (received from BMW AG) into the CIC the same way BMW does it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The aftermarket module:
I know there are people who always look for more affordable solution and I do not blame them for that, but before you decide to use an aftermarket solution just think about the consequences.
-> Do you really want to have an aftermarket hardware in your BMW?

-> The aftermarket solution is obviously not approved by BMW, because it is hacking of their system. You cannot be sure if there are any side effects and how your car will be running.

-> Think about updating the map - you will have to give your dealership the VIN of the car the CIC comes from. If the car is from Europe or some other region it might be difficult to order the US map.

-> What if BMW releases a new software version for your car that will make this module useless?

-> My DVD-in-motion activation does not tamper the speed read by the CIC, but the module does it. It means your CIC will "think" you drive very slowly all the time while you might be doing 80mph.
Your CIC should know your speed to calculate your position if there is no GPS signal.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My experience is something you cannot underestimate, so please have a look at the below testimonials before you decide who you would like to work with:

####################################

The Basic CIC Retrofit Kit includes:
- CIC head unit
- CID High Definition screen
- iDrive controller
- CID power connector
- CID video cable
- CIC trim
- USB cable
- USB port
- Navigation FSC codes
- Navigation map
- Complete coding
- DVD-in-motion activated

It comes with the Navigation FSC codes loaded (navigation is fully activated) and the CIC is coded for the vehicle specification.
The Voice Control can also be activated, but it's not included in the basic kit.

E9x vehicles
If you already have the old Navigation installed in your car the basic kit is all you need. Optionally you can buy the center console trim if you want to fit the new iDrive controller, but the old one will work just fine.

If you do not have the Navigation system at all you will need to change your dashboard and a few other parts. Please contact me for more details.

E6x vehicles
For all E6x vehicles the basic kit is all you need.
Those of you without the old Navigation might also need one dashboard trim.

Pricing:
NEW DISCOUNTED PRICING INTRODUCED ON THE 14TH OF APRIL 2011.
PLEASE CONTACT US FOR DETAILS.

WE ALSO OFFER THE AFTERMARKET ACTIVATION (PER REQUEST ONLY), WHICH MAKES THE CIC RETROFIT EVEN MORE AFFORDABLE.

The price depends on a few factors, so please contact me for more details ONLY by email at info@bimmer-tech.net and include your VIN.

The limitations of the CIC retrofit:
- no HD Radio in the US (the CIC is the Euro spec, the brand new US spec CIC is 600Euro extra)
- if your car was produced before September 2008 and you would like to have the car software updated by your dealership you will have to put your old CCC or Radio back in the car (it takes around 20 minutes to do the swap). According to BMW cars produced before the CIC was introduced could not have the CIC installed.

The E6x set:

The E9x set installed:

The CIC installed:

The new iDrive controller installed:

The main menu screen:

The Tire Pressure Monitor screen:

Very interesting. I was told by a good friend that works for BMW that this retrofit would not work. Any members have this in their car working successfully?

If your car production date is on or after 09/2008 then you are fine with the software uppdates, otherwise you need to put your old Navigation or Radio back for programming.
It takes 20 minutes to replace the CIC with the CCC/Radio, so it's not really a problem.

It's not a cheap mod, but you can do it in stages starting with ordering the FCS codes and following with the purchase of the parts.
