TJDiCandido - can you check Glaves for me?

Hey TJ... can i ask you a favor to check Glaves for me? I've been speaking to a dealer on a 2008 335xi with the following options:

Graphite/Black

Cold Weather
Premium
Sport
Steering wheel with paddle shifters (stepronic)
Nav
Logic 7 sound
Power sun shades
18" wheels

They are asking $37,985.00 and they are only willing to knock off $500.00. I just wanted to know if you can check Galves and put up some numbers that I can use and negotiate back with them. If this works out, this will be my first BMW. Thanks

What type of 3-Series? E90, E91, E92, or E93?

Are you sure that’s the car you want?

If so, the Galves trade-in (wholesale) value of a 2008 E92 335xi with Steptronic, Sport Package, Leather Trim (Premium Package), iDrive/navigation, and 32.5k miles is:

$25,875
+ $1,500 (estimate) to recondition the vehicle.
+ $2,000 (estimate) for the 6yr/100k mile BMW CPO warranty (if applicable).
+ dealer overhead.
+ dealer profit.
= $ ________

Note: The other options you listed add $0 to the wholesale value.

IMO, you should pay no more than $32,000 retail for that high mileage (CPO) E90 335i from a BMW dealer.

That car probably sold for around $47k when it was brand new three years ago, and they want $38k for it today? That's crazy. The average depreciation rate of "Tier Three" automobiles like BMW is approximately 20% annually. That makes a $47k BMW worth about $24k after 3 years.

If the dealer insists on being unrealistic on his CPO pricing, then you're better off getting a 2010 with the incentives BMW is offering right now.

The dealer will probably be more willing to budge on their CPO price closer to the end of the month, especially with the 2011's out already. If not, look elsewhere.

TJ... thank you very much. I'll just keep looking at other dealers where they'll be more reasonable with pricing. At lease I know the starting negotiating price will be around 32-33K for what I want. Thanks!

No, $32k should be your FINAL price on that car, not your "starting" offer.
