Hi Alpina.... I'm venturing over this side of the pond for some advice.

My OCC has arrived from AR, but with no instructions at all.

There's none on the AR website and my kit looks different to the kit on the site and the kit in your pics.

The filter unit is wider and shallower and has a different mounting arrangement now in bright aluminium.

I can figure out the mounting, but I need some hose connection diagrams..

I've mailed Andrew at AR, but no reply yet. Sometimes he doesn't get back to you for days.

Thanks,

Thanks,
You could try to contact Cory from AR Design, she's supposed to take care of the client relationship stuff. I don't think Andrew has written an installation manual for the catch can, though.

I haven't installed mine myself, my shop did that and they figured out how to mount the kit - so I can't provide you with much help unfortunately.

I've looked up some threads, there are some pics and info that you may find helpful to you in these:
- AR Design catch can installed
- DIY of another catch can

i installed the passenger side mount kit in my car. for info on how to use the brackets and relocate the vacuum cannisters, i used the 2nd link Alpina posted above(page7). those pics show you exactly how everything mounts. for info on how/where the hoses are run from, i used one of the existing OCC DIY's on here. Former Boosted has a good one, or you can look in the DIY section for the McKinney. If you need more help let me know....

My OCC design is different to the other AR units I've seen.

I ordered a Drivers side kit (obviously this is passenger side for the UK) i.e. intake side of engine.

Photos' below, It now mounts on the power steering reservoir bolts, but the intake boost recirc valve return pipe is in the way of the catch can and it won't fit.....

Pics show the unit with bracket, then the unit in the space next to the recirc pipe. You can see the catch can is not in line with the attachment points.

Do what I did, use only the far right hole to mount on the power steering reservoir. You should also make the hole bigger because it's a bit small.

Also the direction of air flow matters. pcv outlet to catch can inlet etc. The arrow on the catch can indicates the direction of flow.

I also received the new revision of kit as pictured in doughboy's post. The only way I see it fitting is in a manner similar to what nkw512 has done, but I wanted to check with AR to be sure.

I was going to call Monday until I saw this, so I hope AR will see this and help us all out!

Hmmm..... If I were you guys I would promptly send that back and ask for my money back. There is no excuse for sending out a product that fits that poorly. I say get your money back or get a new kit that fits sent to you!

I talked to Andrew early last week and he is fabricating me a new bracket, hopefully doing the same for everone else. I have it installed the same way as Nkw512 until I get new bracket.

+1.

I had the very same kit for a customer of mine, I was on the phone with Andrew for a bit discussing the kit and explaining to him what the issues were with it.

They had also managed to send a set of I downpipes for an XI, didn't realize it was wrong til I tried to bolt the subframe back up Andrew had them shipped back and sent me the correct ones right away, great customer service.

Give them some time, hes got a lot of work on his hands!

Hey guys,

We have a slightly revised design on our OCC - and it looks like the bracket we made is not clearing on all cars. If you have not already gotten ahold of me via email, please do so, and I will get a revised bracket out ASAP.

Hey Andrew... is the OCC pictured on your website the old kind? If yes, when are you expecting the updated OCC to be displayed on the site along with its details?

Thanks,

-Walter

Yes, it is the old style. My photographer is on vacation, I hope to have it updated soon. We are in the middle of transitioning to a new e-commerce platform as well.

Andrew,

My OCC arrived but the screw holes are not tapped, what is the correct size to tap them to and I'll see if I can get the tool locally (we are metric here so it could be a PITA).

Also on installation the OCC has an arrow indicating flow direction, I assume, what is the correct orientation to connect the OCC to the engine?

i.e. where the OCC piping connects has one fitting close to the firewall and one a fraction further to the front of the engine. So is the inlet side of the OCC connected to the front most or rear most fitting on the engine?

Some sort of instruction manual would make it mucho easier for those of us with limited mechanical ability.

Cheers,

S
