Question Transplant Engine

Guys,im thinking to transplant E60 ///M5 engine on my E93 335i.
Ive done some research and found that Hartge do have V10 engine on their E90 sedan 3 series,

is there any big modification on dropping the engine on the E92/93 chassis?major modification?

anyone have any idea where to get used Engine block, gearbox and ECU?Ebay?
any recomendation of any good junk yards in America?please advice

there are guys in europe who have swapped the E92 M3 engine and drivetrain into the E36 3 series, so it shouldnt be hard. At least you have the wiring/canbus in your favor, its all relatively new. The only real hard part is getting the electronics to play nicely with each other.

your best bet is to check salvage yards. Buy an M5 that has been totaled (vandalism, hit in the back, etc) for cheap, this is the best way to get EVERYTHING you need.

Ive been researching this myself for my planned N54 swap. a totaled 335 fetches 5-8k, which is a lot better than spending 13k on the engine block alone, +DME trans wireharness all the modules etc.

I have seen a few M5s go for about 15-20k with a salvage title. check out copart.com

Don't forget that you're going to need the transmission as well. From a structural standpoint, you'll need new engine mounts at the bare minimum. IMO this project will cost you about $30,000. Also, make sure you have a competent shop do the work.

It's been done, but if you're actually asking whether or not there is any "big modification" you might want to do a bit more research....cramming a V10 in the place of a I6 isn't exactly "drop-in."

Anyway, check out Michael Essa's S85 powered e92:

that sound!!!

yeap thats what I heard lots in europe too. There is one guy in sweden using the V10 M5 on his E30 coupe and from what I see and read his thread is totally fine..probably the waiting of the project to be done is the main reason thou.
