O2 modifier and CANclear

From the Vishnu website.
Quote:
While the Procede offers it's proprietary CANclear feature to suppress codes/SES lights from running with downpipes, it still offers the ability to adjust the rear o2 sensor signals through the O2 Modifier setting in the User Adjustable menu. At 100%, there is no change to the o2 sensor signal. The lower the value, the higher the "strength" of the o2 modifier feature. Most users will not have to use this feature if the CANclear function is left ON. Please note that this feature is for OFF ROAD USE ONLY.
I've been gone for about six months and couldn't find a specific thread on the O2 modifier and Canclear functions.

I recently updated from V3 to V4 and started getting limp modes(catless DPs). After about 5 minutes of driving the limp modes go away. I assume that this is the canclear function doing its business. If the O2 modifier is left at 100 with canclear on, will canclear auto audjust the O2 modifier to eliminte future limp modes/SES lights. Or will I have to adjust the O2 modifier manually.

Shiv will you add how to make adjustments to this on your new site.

Thanks,
psu139

It looks like you are one of the few people with an old DME software version that annoyingly triggers the MIL light while the cat efficiency codes are still in the pending state. BMW changed the software so to not throw the code until the code goes form pending to active. And the CANclear system clears the code (in pending state) before you will see any SES/MIL light. So my suggestion is to get your DME software updated by the dealership.

If you don't want to do this, you'll have to rely on dialing-in the o2 modifier which can take a bit of trial and error. Which is why I prefer the first option which just involves turning CANclear ON. If you want to go the o2 modifier route, just start at 50 and work down in small increments until the cat codes don't return. But you want to run a high-as-possible value as going too low can have other negative effects (lambda codes).

Which is why I vastly prefer relying on the CANclear feature instead. Since there is no fiddling with o2 sensor signals involved. Which means no possible performance related side-effects.

Sure... you can leave CANclear ON. It will only erase tuner codes in your case (if they were ever to pop up). If any serious/important code would to be triggered, the CANclear function would disable itself. So nothing will go unseen.

Thanks Shiv,
I just set it to 50% and it works great. Is there a threshold setting at which the lambda codes usually come on as far as percentage settings are concerned? Or if its working at that setting leave it be? I only ask since you said to set it as high as possible.
Thanks,

If you go too low with the value, you'll get rear o2 codes. How low depends on the DME software. Some cars can go low and not have an issue. Others have a much smaller window of acceptability. Which is why I greatly prefer the CANclear approach. But if 50% on the o2 modifier works, leave it there

How can we find what is our Dme software?
From which version and for is the autocanclear works perfectly?
From which production date the car has the "working" dme softwrare?

For you guys with the o2 settings set to 50%, are you guys running catless? I'd rather have the o2 sensor worked out so trying to figure out the setting. tried 45% and 50% and still cat code. Since i'm running high flow dp cats with second cat delete, i'm wondering if anyone else has settings they have tried that works. (Just so i have a base line to work with.

As i am going to upgrade from v3 to v4 this week and have the old dma version, i would like to ask something..
I don't want to update the dma software, and i am catless, so should i lower the o2 to 50% in order not to have any cels?
Or should i leave it at 100% and let the canclear cleans these cels when they occured.

A very good friend, suggest me that if the cels doesn't bother me (to my eyes)when i see them, i should leave the o2 modifier at 100% and let the canclear do his ob, in order the procede reads the actual afr!

Shiv, what is it your opinion?

I would suggest not even using the o2 mod feature (leave it at 100%) and just leaving CANclear ON. Chances are that this will work for you just fine as not all old dme software versions are subject to that shortcoming mentioned. If that doesn't work, you can either update your DME software or just start dialing in the o2 sim. I prefer the former since I'm not a big fan of modifying o2 sensor signals if you don't need to.

Thank's Shiv,
but assuming that i am from the few with old dme that throw cells,is it wrong to let the o2 modifier at 100% and canclear on, in order to delete these cells which periodically occured?
A friend of mine have this issue and because he don't mind having these cel light appeared for some sec he suggest me not to lower o2 modifier.

Is it any bad for ecu, or loose any power when this cel turns on for some sec?
