Halogen to Xenon (The Factory way!) 2008 328xi
Ok, I have read over thousands of post on this forum, but I have yet to find anyone that has installed Xenon factory housings onto a 32xi (2008) using a retrofit kit from Roveractive, or anyone else, new foot well module, new light control module and installing the front and rear sensors for the AHL.
I have the BMW installation instructions and they list the job at about 5+ hours plus you have to have a dealership program the computer. I just ordered a pair of Xenon housings off of ebay, complete, and I will be acquiring the retrofit kit from roveractive for the wiring, sensors, etc. Has ANYONE done this retrofit? If so, what pointers did you arrive at while installing? Is there anyplace to get the computer programmed without going to a dealer? Thanks in advance. mike |

retrofit kit
You have to contact them to acquire the parts. I still have to find out if a 2008 only came with automatic headlight leveling or if it was adaptive headlights.
Here is the part list they sent me with prices, not including the housings... I believe Tischer BMW is cheaper on the foot module and light module, but this is the only place I have found that even sells the parts for the retrofit. Mike A Wiring harness - $49.95 B Rear level sensor wiring harness - Not listed as a separate item in the kit. May be part of the main wiring harness but cannot confirm. E Footwell module (not supplied with the retrofit kit) - $349.95 F Light control (not supplied with the retrofit kit) - $119.95 G Level sensor (2x) - $84.95 each H Rear control rod - $6.50 I Front control rod - $9.50 J Rear holder - $2.75 K Control rod holder - $1.30 L Front holder - $2.95 M Allen screw M5 x 10 (4x) - $0.24 each N Expanding nut M6 (2x) - $0.60 each O Hexagonal screw M6 x 16 mm (2x) - $1.50 each P Hexagonal nut M6 (3x) - $0.15 each Q Collar nut M12 x 1.5 - $0.60 R Cable tie 200 x 3.6 mm (20x) - $0.45 each S Warning sticker (2x) - $7.50 each |

Did a quick check on prices at tischer (go to "electrical", then "electrical components", the "adjust rod", then "front" to get to the parts):
Leveling sensor (back): $72.04 Level sensor (front): $72.04 Control rod (rear): $5.22 Control rod (front): $7.66 Mount bracket (front): $2.38 Mount bracket (rear): $2.22 Another rear bracket: $1.06 Couldn't find wiring harness or rear harness, or light control (I'm assuming that's the light switch on the dash?), or footwheel module. |

I salute you and I'm subscribed to this thread. I would like to do the swap, but I want a factory result. Thanks for taking this on.

I already have the part numbers for the footwell and light switch from Tischer BMW. They are cheaper for the parts, but Roveractive can put together the whole package and supply installation instructions, so I don't mind paying a little bit of a premium for the service provided. I probably will buy the footwell and light switch from Tischer as they are quite a bit less expensive.
Footwell module 61359224598 $312.82 LCM 61319169398 $101.33 Now the next issue is that it seems that 2008 models came with AHL automatic headlight leveling and then the customer could also order Adaptive headlights, which swivel left to right. There are two kits available for each of these two options. I have to wait for my housings to come in in order to see which version they are. |

Then the trick after this is to get the lights turned on by a BMW dealership that wont give a hassle that they were installed by myself. I doubt I would trust or could even find one that would take on this project or have the competency to get it done right.
