Just had my BMW software upgraded to latest and greatest...WOW
I got a 2007 335i coupe.
I just had my first HPFP replaced at 34000 miles and had to have my software updated to latest. I was pre v29 before. I've been avoiding this like the plaque but the SA told me I had no choice because of the new upgraded HPFP installed. So I had to give in. Anyway First impressions of the new updated BMW software----latest and greatest: When I went outside to get my car i noticed right away that the exhaust sounded so much louder (the way it sounds in the mornings on a cold start, but the car was very much warmed up). Nice tone indeed. I got home and my wife was in the driveway and the first thing she said was"is something wrong with the car because it sounds so loud". I had a little smile on my face, so I guess that's a plus. I've heard other say the exhaust is louder with the new software as well. Secondly, right off the bat, my car felt so much faster than it did before. I almost called my SA to ask him if he flashed my car with a tune. It really felt as if my car was tuned. All this was felt at lower speeds and lower RPM however. Off the line the car felt faster than before. Must be the new software update!? Once I got onto the highway, it still faster than before (bear in mind I am only comparing stock before to stock now..well with DP's and DCI anyway but no tune). On the highway I definitely missed my JB3, as the car was still a snail without it, but overall if i never knew what a tune felt like, I would have thought my car was so much faster after the new software reflash. Finally I had absolutely no lag (I have a lot more lag with the tune). This was a great feeling. It felt great taking off at a green light. I think maybe it was the lower torque (because my JB3 was out) because the wheels don't spin as much and take-offs seem faster and better. With my tune I have so much torque that my rear end fish-tails on take-offs(getting Quaife LSD soon anyway). I will see what will happen to the lag after I reinstall my JB3, because as of right now it is non-existent. Anyone else get the latest software yet? I have tried very hard since 2008 to avoid getting the latest software (i was pre v29), but I am so happy I did. Car felt more alive and exhaust sounds so much better. I hope all this is not just my butt-dyno lying to me because I've been driving my wife's nissan altima for a few days and maybe I got used to no torque and no speed and now all of a sudden the 335i seems like a rocket lol.

The new software is nice. I had mine done last week with 37.2.0.4. The car definitely seems a bit louder. I'm glad you mentioned it because I thought it was just my imagination.

i finished installing my JB3 then went for a 20 mile test drive to make sure everything was still ok.
Initially everything was great. It felt nice to feel the power again. So much torque. After driving for about ten miles however, the check engine light came on. Car was still running fine. Got off the highway. Went to do a few WOT and ok so far. Then i was stopped at a red light and when it turned green i went WOT. Something really weird happened. Car took off like a rocket for 20 feet then it like stalled.....engine was revving like crazy but car felt stuck in first gear and would just rev but no go. this lasted like 10 seconds, then car shook violently once and took off like a rocket again. This has happened to me a few times only before. Not sure why. I have an AT and I always drive in DS mode. Is it from the JB3? i've read other posts where people complained about some inconsistencies at times with the tune...sometimes too much bost and sometimes noo boost, etc. So far i've been very happy with my JB3. Not sure why this happened again tonight. Will take the car out again tomorrow. As far as the engine light. I connected my BT tool and i had 2 errors about catalytic converters 29f4 or something like that. I did not reinstall my O2 sims as I broke it taking it out so i have to get a new one now. Man that one little episode had me scared when the car just stalled like that

and i think it may be my fault. i do have all bolt-ons except FMIC which is getting installed Tuesday. And i was running Map 7 on 91 pump. And it is 95 degrees outside. However in my defense, thats what i always run anyway and its always even hotter here in vegas, so again, I don't know why my car took so long to switch gears and was stuck in first then just took off 10 seconds later (and thats a long time)
