Ordered VMR VB3 18x9.5ET45 and Bridgestone RE-11, will I need spacers ?

Hi,

I ordered some VMR VB3's in 18" for my e90 LCI sedan. I chose ET40 front and ET45 rear offsets. I have based my choosing of on the following threads:

I would like to fit Bridgestone RE-11 tires, 245 front and 275 rear. I am looking for a "boxy" and muscular look. I don't want ANY rubbing. Here is a picture showing a 275 tire on a 9.5" rim:

My questions are, do you think I will need like 5mm spacers in the back based on those pictures ? What you you think about the RE-11 profile ? Is it square or round ? Is it possible to have rubbing on the INSIDE if no spacers are used (the calculator sais 21mm less clearance than stock on the inside...)

Hi Catalin,

You should have some room in the rear to add spacers but I recommend mounting the wheels and tires first then measuring the distance between the inner fender and sidewall to make sure. Here is a guide to help:

The offsets are perfect for the car, and the tires are nice and thick. You might not need spacers in this application, but if you do, it'll be small. I'm assuming somewhere between 5mm in the back, and maybe 5mm-10mm up front.

Just get those wheels on and show some pictures off, we'll try to help out

My 19x8.5 ET40 is already pretty close to the strut (12mm closer than my OEM 162s). With 19x9.5 ET45, there will be "18mm LESS clearance on the strut side" compared to the 19x8.5 ET40 which means 30mm closer to the strut than the OEM 162s.

I was talking about the rear. In front, the rims are 8.5/ET40.

I would recommend putting the wheels on first and see how you like the stance. The 9.5 +45 with a 275 RE11 is pretty flush in the rear for a LCI. If it is not flush enough, I would say about another 5mm spacer is as far as you'll want to go before any rubbing issues occur.
