Leather Seats
Noticed in the current E90 brochure "Dakota leather upholstery comprises leather front panels of seats, front panels of front and outer rear headrests, armrests and gear selector gaitor"
Has that always been the case? Should I treat the non-leather areas any differently? I'd presume leather cleaner should be OK. |

What section/page is that quote from? I have a 2009 E90 brochure and cannot find anything similar (in terms of qualification).

Strange the faces of the rear seats are not listed as Dakota covered?
As for caring for vinyl, my understanding is that BMW leather is coated anyway and thus behaves similarly to vinyl. Regular vaccuuming, and monthly cleaning with 1/5 wool wash in water and a soft brush to clean the grain should be all that is necessary. Some seem to argue no protectant or feed is required. I'm currently using Zaino which I believe is water-based and suitable for coated leather and vinyl surfaces. It effectively seems to leave a temporary protective coating on the surface that wears off over 3-4 weeks use.

As for products, you don't need jack. I've had mine for 5 years and the interior still looks the same as the day i picked her up from the showroom, no sagging, no creases or anything. Just the odd wipe with a damn cloth & your done. The key bit of advice i'd give for caring for leather interiors is to keep it's exposure to daylight to a minimum.
