ECU sub-connector problem - will not come off
Ok, I think I really screwed up now. I was removing the JB3, the removal process was going very smooth. So, I take out the large connector and the slider comes all the way out. No biggie I though, i just set it aside. After plugging all the factor stuff back together, I put the connectors back on, except I forgot to put the slider back on the large connector. So, now not only does my car not start, the big connector will not come off, for me to add the slider back in. I know the reason is the conector is not all the way in for the car to start.
Anyone have any advice or thread that they can point me too?

Similar thing happened to me - I was able to get my fingertips underneath the connector and use them for leverage to pry up the connector evenly on all sides. Hope this helps.

During the install you pressed on a tab on the ecu subconnector to take the slider out.
Press on the same area on the subconnector (it is on the top) with your small screwdriver and it will lift out easily. Then attach the slider and press the slider in as you lower the subconnector, they reattach as a unit. Dave Former car: 2007 335i JB3 |

well the issue finally got fixed for $2K and 3 weeks later that BMW charged me. I did not tell them what I did, but they claimed that the ECM became corrupt. Not sure how, but I was not going to question it. I need to find a local mechanic that knows how to work on 335i in Little Rock. BMW is killing me on prices.

A local mechanic wouldn't be able to replace your DME, I don't think it's plug&play. But a handy JB3/Procede user would have a chance at taking the connector out. |
