Car Delivery

Hi all,

Probably a stupid question though...

Since this is my first bimmer and it supposed ready by this weekend (if not, earlier next week), is there anything I have to pay attention or be aware when take it over from the sales guy?

Usually, brand new bimmers won't have problems, but it's safe to check as there can always be exceptions. Observe whether the paint finish is up to standard, see if there are any dent or scratches on the body. Test that everything works as you expected (power windows, air conditioning, radio, cd player, cruise control, lane departure warning, etc). Drive the car to get a feel for it and see if there is nothing wrong with it. Make sure the steering feel, wheel alignment, ride quality (it's normal to be harsher then other cars due to the run-flats) is correct, etc.

Most importantly, once the run-in period is over, test the car's performance and handling is up to 3 series standard.

Wolfman, thanks for tips. I bet BMW should well cover up if there is any scratch on the car.

My sales told me, it will take 1+hour to explain me about the car.. Scary!

I am not sure if its normal for bimmer in HK. When I picked up my car, it has done over 170km on it whereas my mate's C200k had less than 80km.

You're welcome. In my experience, it's best to check over the car yourself as well and not just rely on BMW's word. Since there is always the possiblity that BMW may have miss some problems or did'nt notice a scratch here or there. The chances aren't high for that since BMW HK is fairly professional, but you can never discount that possiblity entirely. So always check over your new car yourself to make sure everything is working as advertised to protect your own interest.

Pay particular attention to the way the car drives and corners. The 3 serie's fame is it's sporty performance and handling. If it cannot do well in handling, then something is wrong with the car. But I trust that is a slim possiblity at best. After all, how the car performs is the 3 serie's main selling point. BMW would make sure there are no problems in that quality area.
