Dinan Tuning and DME

So I took my car to the stealership yesterday to get upgraded from Dinan Stage 1 to Stage 2. They told me they couldn't do it because their software was outdated. The invoice says specifically:

"CHECKED COMPATIBILITY WITH DINAN PROGRAMMER. CURRENT DME WILL NOT INTERFACE WITH PROGRAMMER. NO PROGRAMMING THROUGH MIPP APPLICABLE FOR VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. -126"

Has anyone else had a similar issue? Is the problem actually their programmer or are they effing with me and I need to have them update my DME?

Give Dinan's 800 # a call - they'll get you straightened out.

Good luck; you'll love S2.

Which dealership did you go to? I had my '07 flashed with S2 a couple months ago here in Austin and there was no problem. When I lived in Houston, I dealt with BMW of Houston North at both their Spring and Woodlands locations. You might try one of those locations if you're not already.

I went to Momentum West a week ago to have the ABS module replaced... and I think they reflashed my ECU and deleted my Dinan S1. Unfortunately, I just got my boost gauge installed yesterday... and I'm only making around 9.5psi MAX. Only Momentum on 59 is Dinan certified, but I wanna see if I can get West to take care of it. If not, I'm dfinitely going to North Houston. It's really my only other option at this point.

I'm tired of this bullshit with Dinan and the dealerships flashing it off. This is the second time it's happened to me, and such an inconvenience

Momentum West cannot do it... you have to go down to 59. Or you could always go to BMW of Austin I promise they have the nicest waiting lounge

right... i went down to Momentum on 59 yesterday, and that's where they told me they had compatibility issues w/ my DME... see the OP

I'm either going to have to try BMW Houston North... or just get a JB3...

Absolutely - I worked with Scott and he's definitely the guy to go to at Houston North. And yes, you probably got your Dinan wiped out by the reflash, which is the same thing I had when BMW of Austin recently installed a new steering angle sensor on my '07 E92 (it was throwing "don't drive" warnings intermittently). I made sure they did the Dinan reflash after the standard BMW sensor-replacement procedure, since Dinan isn't part of that procedure which includes an ECU reflash. I got the latest code for the DME80 and then he Dinan S2 on top of that.

If you come to Austin to have it done, contact Bo Barnes in the parts dept. and he'll tell you straight up.
