dealer is telling me not ordering sunroof will negatively impact resale value of car

25k for sunroof. will it impact resale by 25k in 3-4 years?

i think a lot cares about the sunroof although i am not 1 of them, and all the options wont impact the resale value by much, cus a lot will just follow the market price no matter what options / mods you have unless its your friends or private deals

at the time you resale it, assuming without sunroof, the buyer will just ask for a lower price but never cost 25k difference.

Yep thats what I figured. Anyways I have so many added on options (nav/surround camera/sports seats/600w hifi professional) that the sunroof will be a non issue if someone brings it up.

A friend of mine would never buy a car with sunroof. He thinks that it may increase the severity of injury if the car rolls over in an accident.

It is difficult to predict the resell value in the future.

In HK, car dealers do make quite a lot money. You may encounter a buyer offering higher price,but it takes time to contact and wait. If I were you, I would get whatever you like as you have already added quite a lot options that others would not add.

btw, if you do have the sunroof (together with what options you've ordered), you can just claim what they call "full options" which got much better resell value. well, i don't buy any car without sunroof (although i don't use it in summer). of course, i believe many ppls have different mind as mine. anyway, just take whatever you want!

I think it would lower the price of resale. Not a lot but it would be a few thousand at least.

But on another note, sunroof is nice... my Accord CL9 didn't have one and I wish we had it on a nice sunny day. Don't think I'd get another car without it.

my last 2 cars had it (e36 and e90) but i rarely used it so skipping on the f10. it it was 10k i would have considered it, but 25k seems too much for something i don't care for...

I don't think the car would worth 25k more with sunroof or less without sunroof. Used car hunters prefer lower price instead of more options.

yeah i had to assume all options will be worth zero at resale time so only ones I had to have were ordered. so no sunroof.

Not really zero. But if no sunroof was 10k cheaper,i would go for the 10k chaper one. Again,how could we predict the future buyers so much?

If you feel better spending 25k on drinks or food or something else,just do it. I personally think sunroof is a must hv is BS. If I could special order a E9x with no sunroof with 10k discounts, I would go for it definitely.
