Early Dec Orders -- Still waiting on 111?
I placed an order with a regional dealer back in early December. He was all out of modifiable orders at the time, so we were waiting for a production number.
It's been over a month now and he tells me he's waiting on 111. I know demand is strong, but it seems as though the wait times are growing substantially over the wait times people posted in the survey thread for August - November orders. Is anyone having similar experiences with other dealers? Does the BMW plant have an extended shutdown period over the holiday period that is adding to this delay? I'm dying in this stupid rental Suzuki (sold the RX-8 a little earlier than planned).

Hey dude keep waiting, it will be well worth it. It does suck, I cancelled my 06 Civic Si order after too many games from the dealer, ended up finding me my car 1 week after I cnacelled.
It's different with BMW in that you have to order your specific car, but there is the saying good things come to those who wait. you just gotta wait a long ass time Good luck. |

I understand the limited supply of the coupes, but it seems as though the average turnaround from most on the surveys was a lot less than 1+ months without even making it to 111 with a production number.
I guess I've got another 2-4 months with this rental.

I ordered on Dec 22nd and I think mine is status "112" ?? The 1800# says scheduled for production with no confirmed production date... it's been saying that since day 1.
I originally wanted Terra with Aluminum which is so rare you pretty much have to order it.... but since I changed my mind and switched to Black Leather which is more common there's probably already one in the US somewhere. I'm gonna get the dealer to look tomorrow and I may end up just saying the heck with the order thing if they can find one close to what I want. |

I ordered my car first of December and will take delivery next week. I see your located in Wilmington. Did you deal with Schaffer (sp?)? If so, thats a pretty small dealership and consequently probably don't have a large allocation. Your dealer should have known what week of production he had open, but sometimes they like to be sneaky.

I ordered my car on a Thursday night on Xmas's week. I got my production number the night I left. I checked today, the car is in the body shop with complete production scheduled for the 11th of this month. My salesman told me to expect the car the 2nd or 4th week of Feb. I ordered an e90 335i btw.
Edit: Just checked again at 2AM...it is paint shop now. Last edited by wj4; 01-09-2007 at 04:57 AM.. |

Wait times depend completely on the dealer you go to. Some dealers have a small number of allocations, some have a lot. Some dealers fill their allocations faster than others. The delivery date one dealer gives could be 2-3 months farther out than a different dealer. People have to keep this in mind when choosing where to buy their car.
In the end though, the wait (even 3-4 months) will be well worth it. |

Different dealers have varying numbers of production slot allocations.
To even it out, did you ever consider performance center delivery? Being in NC, SC is not at all a very long drive. With PCD you can deal with pretty much any dealership in the country enabling you to zero in on high volume dealers with plenty of slot allocations and perhaps, more aggressive pricing.

I actually shopped around and went with the best rated dealer in Winston-Salem (Flow), which is a much bigger market than Wilmington. I am planning on doing PC delivery, but that doesn't seem to be helping my case right now.
They were also the best on service over the phone and had the strongest price when we were comparing the rest of the dealers in the state. Perhaps the Christmas holiday season impacted BMW AG's order acceptance schedule for orders without allocations. We'll wait and see.
