Not sure what an impact wrench is but Home Depot have a Makita cordless impact driver at a good price-- 18V Lithium with enough torque for most jobs... even "hose"work...(??)

Oh... You should always use a torque wrench for final tightening of wheel lugs... specially with aluminum wheels.

all the torque wrenches i've used aren't designed to loosen bolts... only tightening. That's why I use an impact gun to remove lugs and then when putting lugs back on I use the gun to put on loosely and then do final tightening with torque wrench.

Aside from suspension components and few other areas such as drivetrain, an electric will do 80% of the bolts on your car... and it's useful for odd jobs around the house

Btw... I have both electric and pneumatic impact drivers.

I have one of these and it works great.

For most people this will be cheaper than an air compressor and a good impact gun, plus it's completely portable and will likely last your lifetime.

I don't have a large enough compressor do drive an impact gun so I have two that I use.

I use this one for large jobs like wheel lugs etc...
http://www.canadiantire.ca/browse/pr...=1284337258969

I use this one for around the house jobs, after getting it I no longer use a screw gun or ratchets.
http://www.dewalt.com/tools/cordless...s-dc825ka.aspx

The mastercraft is awesome when you need brute force to remove stubborn rusted bolts, the dewalt is perfect for driving screws and bolts, nice and light for all day use.

For any fine adjustments and torque to spec applications you need a dedicated torque wrench.

I just picked this up on the weekend. My bro-in-law is a serious toolie - he recommended and uses this model, and his opinion is gold to me.

thanks guys, couple questions
1. do i need to use separate deep impact socket for impact wrench? (I just bought $200 tools... have enough sockets but no deep sockets)
2. when loosening lug bolts, do I loosen them a little before lift (like old school style) or loose them all the way after lift?

all my tools are mastercraft maximum.. and I would like to keep them all in one brand... what do you think of this? and they are on sale.....
http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

now this one says it is used for loosening wheel lugs, bolts etc......

1. Deep sockets would help depending on the application for example wheel lugs. It's really case by case, good to have around tho.

2. With an impact gun you are not putting weight on the car to crack the seal. You don't have to loosen, lift then remove. Jack the car up and do all your work then put it down and give it a once over with a torque wrench.

I have the 7.5A one in link #2 - Has never let me down.

You don't need them for our cars, especially with OEM wheels. You will need an extension bar tho when using the torque wrench or you will be banging into the fenders.

Since you want to stick with maximum brand keep an eye on sales, you can pickup a set pretty cheap on sale.

I had bought the impact wrench that you are using..and I tried it today.... (w/ impact socket)
it wont budge my wheel lugs........ I only tried for about 1 - 2 secs.....
does it normally take longer to loosen the wheel lugs??? like more than 3 sec??
I didnt try longer than 3 sec cuz i didnt want to strip the bolts.
I am thinking returning them...

Guys the Mastercraft impact wrench is currently on sale (at least according to their website) for $47.88; reg price $149.99.

That is a deal!

I have one from 3 years ago ... I used to use it all the time. My family has 3 cars and I change from all-seasons/summer to winter and vice versa every single year. To be honest, I got lazy to take it out from the basement, hook up the extension cord, etc. So I just bought a $20 breaker bar from Princess Auto and never looked back ... haha

I actually just bought one this morning. Could someone tell me where I can get a Snap-on socket in the GTA, or are the ones at CT good enough?
