Just moved to HK!

Hi all, just wanted to introduced myself as a new e90 post here in HK. Some of you might remember me from this thread:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=362575

Where I was agonizing if I should get the 335i or the e46 M3, but after much deliberation, I finally decided on a 2nd hand Audi S5 that I'll pick up this Friday. Despite the fact I got an audi, I still hope I'll be welcome to your meets!

Also I was wondering if I might pick up a set of 19" BBS LMs. (Is it worth it to get real ones?)

THanks!

hey nice pick up for the Audi and welcome, it's quite a stunning car!
IMO it's not really worth it to get the real ones unless you really have alot of spare $$ to blow, there are replicas out there that does the job aesthetically. Plus, with all the parallel parkings on the street, you would be kicking yourself in the nuts when getting curb checks.
Finally, go get the Capristo exhaust for the S5!!

Thanks for the reply!

Do people in HK usually only have one set of rims? If they buy another set, where would they keep their previous set due to the lack of space here? Also where can I pick up a set of Reps? and how much would it cost?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions haha

I think ppl rent mini storage if they don't have anywhere else to put the spare set...although most ppl i know, their family run some sort of business that have warehouses where they can store their spare parts
Not sure where you can get the LM reps in HK as I am quite new to the HK mod scene as well (lived stateside for 8 years and just returned for good).
But those Linea Corse (sp?) sold by subysude/wheeldude were made in Phillipines so they might be cheaper to order them in HK then have them shipped from stateside.
Hopefully some veterans here can help you out to find a vendor who carry those wheels.

Nice to see you here and Vorischt too. Looking forward to see your S5 in real. What colour is it?

Honkies normally own 1 set of rims (+ the stock OEM for resale) since the space is limited here. Moreover you would find the prices of rims and tyres are much steeper comparing with NA.

IMO,any VMR wheels would work better than LM on S5 at a fair rate.

Thanks, I'll look into it. The problem is that I don;t have a warehouse to store my spare parts, at this point I might just repaint my rims to a color to my liking (gunmetal), since they were already painted before (white/black). Any gd rim customization shop recommendations?

I got a White one with red interior. I might consider painting my rims instead of buying a new set due to my lack of space. The problem is that the rims were "baked" before by the previous owner. Any one know if this process is easily reversible? If so where can I do this so I can repaint it later?

If you don't like the white rims matching with the white body, you may just simply get them painted in black/gunmetal,which goes extremely well with whites.

No expereience on rims painting before.

Which surface finishing do you actually want? I think your white/black rims look nice and unique enough though.

yup that sounds like the one I picked up

I just started my Jd program in the City U of HK about a month ago. I also agree with u on the employment situation here in hk, it's close to impossible to find a job you truly like, and actually paids decently
